1. Another great Tutorial :)

I really apreciate your help xphiaz

I would never be able to learn those things so easily and fast, like with those tutorials.....

    Btw

I am having a great fun by exploring and learning Reason

i found the sounds banks amazing and the Malstorn synth its simply great!

My pleasure (: Anything for a fellow musician! :D

  2. I got a somewhat kind of simple question

Basically, i dont know how to use the pattern sequencer on the matrix in order to change the sound

I mean, i go to the mixer and then create a subtractor for the bass for ex. after setting the bass, i want use subtractor for a pad for ex. I have to create another matrix just for the new sound

What i mean is that i still dont know how to use the matrix on the various effects i want to create. Especially if i want too diferent synths like subtractor and Malstorm on the same matrix.... is that possible?

    My problem is:

Its one matrix per sound, wich i know its wrong

Let's see if I've got this right; you want to control multiple devices with one matrix?

Here you go, made you another tutorial (:

  3. Wow xphiaz :)

Thats what i call sharing some light B)

Thanks a lot mate! You dont know how helpful this was for me

The tutorials are incredibly well done and easy to understand

I could now create my first loops on the Reason :)

    Really, Really........awesome

    407263

No, thank you for giving me something to do :D I'm happy that it was useful to you (: Just ask me about anything else you need to know, and I'll whip together a tutorial for that to.

  4. I started this track to play around with delay on bass lines.  The old mushroom style bass lines work well with delay so it was fun to go and re-explore that style again.  Glad you enjoyed the tune xiphiaz :D

Sorry I couldn't give you a more thorough review, it's just that.. I can't find anything wrong with it :D Really, it's flawless in my ears and I really dig the synths (: As I said, very very nice! Awesome work (:

  5. hello all! im putting up a new track, called look behind. i would call it melodic fullon, if i had to describe it. I´m looking forward to comments mostly on the production side of it, but every comment is welcome

    anyway, link is.

This is very good! Can't find any flaws on the production and arrangment, but then again I usually don't spend to much time thinking about it (; I like the bass. It's quite hollow, and that's not so common I think, but it somehow fits very well (: Also the melody that fades in from 2:03 is very good. Really fluffy. You also have snappy percussion, giving it a tight beat and I think that fits the bass just great!

That's all I could think of for now (: Cheers

  6. So after i realized to do some simple conections i got some problems and some questions

I would be very grateful for anything that would send me some light here

1- What is the "reason" behind the programn?( for ex the CV and the backdrops conections that are so unique of reason)

You'll have to ask propellerhead about this one

But IMO, I think it's the best program on the market. I know there's a lot of fuzz about "uugh, there's no support for VST's!". But I really don't mind, there's so much more you can do with the reason synthesizers. And there are rumors that the next version will support VST's, which will make reason the most powerful program IMO.

2- Every loop or melody you create has to be made on the Matrix? And how do you put the loop on the sequecing window?

No, you don't have to make every melody in the Matrix, you can connect any MIDI-controller to reason and create your melodies that way.

I've made a little tutorial for you on how to get your melodies from the Matrix to the sequencing window.

3-What does the combinator does? how does it works in practice?

The combinator is just what it sounds like, it can combine the different devices that you desire, and then you can save it as one. In other words; you can create a synth just the way you like it. You can for example create a Subtractor, a Malström, a NN19 and a NNXT, add effects to them and then control them all by connecting a Matrix to the combinator, thus giving you a more powerful sound. It's a bit hard to do a sumary of it, because you can do so much (: Just experiment a bit and discover for yourself.

4- What is the primary things i should know?

for ex, how to create a 4/4 kick, and keep sequecing that beat throu the track on the arrange window? Or a even better ex... what is the basiscs i should know about the whole backdrop conections?

You don't really need to worry about the backdrop connections, because reason handles this itself. But it's still there so that you can connect everything in any way possible. But that's a bit more advanced, so I suggest not to begin with that yet (:

I've made a tutorial for your 4/4 kick too.

Hope my reply was of any use to you :)

  7. What do you guys feel when you have to face a period out of your production?

I am now entering into a tree mounths phase with out producing!

    I feel weak and sad

    :(

    404175

I know the feeling, it's not a pleasant one =( You really want to produce something great but you just can't, you feel drained of inspiration. But forcing it won't do any good. Been there a couple of times, and there's nothing to do really, just hang in there and the magic will return in time (:

Just try not to think to much of it and do other stuff instead.

  8. I listened. Nicey nice!

A bit trancey for my taste though - I prefer my chill without a 4/4 kick :)

The intro was nice, I know you got that sample from doru malaia, I have it :) - maybe if you added a nice dub groove instead of that kickdrum it would be more pleasing to my taste - but it's sounding so far like Kick Bong's ambient trance, which some may be into :)

Nice stuff though! :) Very epic and atmospheric!

And Happy Christmas to you too. :D

    Ben

    403707

    Thanks matey :D

Yeah I'm not really sure it this is what i'm supposed to do (; but you've gotta give everything a try. So I'll take what you said in mind and alter the track thereafter (:

I guess what I was trying to do was something like Astrix's downtempo tunes, which I usually really enjoy.

Thanks again and merry christmas :D

  9. overall impression - nice track but maybe there is too much of something - that synth that goes trough all track from the beggining. its too mediocre at most part and repetitive imo it would sound better only if you keep it at breaks, you know :).

    but thats just my opinion.

    400573

Thanks for the feedback, and yes, that makes sense (: I'll try to put something else in instead, and some more variation.

Please xiphiaz, where did you get the vocals (chorals) in Keeh?

    I need to know :)

    401372

No probs (: It's the "OOH Choir" to the NN19 sampler in reason.

  10. Cool track! Progressive intro, or, progressive tune overall (: really like the bass, very nice. Although I'm not sure of the first synth you have going there starting at 0:53 and again at 4:30 , doesn't really fit IMO /:

As for the melody that fades in at 5:00, I'd modify the highest note in that melody, think that would do the trick. And that guitar-thingy at 5:34 :P get rid of it! It ruins the tune IMO (: I really like the part from 6:12 and forward, nice! (:

    Keep it up! :D

  11. sorry , had some problems!!

    here's the correct link:

Nice track, I like the atmosphere. But it feels a little tight/light, despite of all the sounds. I'd raise the bassdrum quite a bit, and as for the bassline, I'd keep the melody you use in the intro, but then whack in a break and change it, that's really effectful (: also raise the percussion and spread them, and maybe raise the lower frequencies on the bass too (: Maybe a pad would fit in there too.

    Good luck! :)
