1. Well, the thing is... Imagine a total computer crash or something... And you lost everything at once... that wouldn't happen with cds :)

489036

he is right

Cinos, imagine a headcrash on the harddrive with your music on. It would make its last sound - a Dark Industrial Ambient-like noise that will struck you to the bone. The song of death. And all is lost. Nothing lasts, everything is lost.

I'd be the first to give you the "Cinos.justgotowned.com"-link then

2. You wan't to tell me that when you want to listen some music you take the CD from the shelf and put into CP-player?  :o  I dropped that few years ago and the same moment I get the CD I rip it to mp3 for a computer / car / diskman etc. This way my disks will live longer too :)

488931

oh gosh, I am still doing that "when you want to listen some music you take the CD from the shelf and put into CP-player"-thing ... my gosh, I feel so old now :(

Cinos, if you sell any CDs, please put them on for trade here, will ya? Maybe you got something I'd pay good money for ... or maybe not, but just put them on trade here, oke?

3. I've spent the afternoon smoking all the weed I found on the ground and even took some of it back home ....

486966

at least it was not all for nothing :D

seriously, I feel for you, being held by the police till 6pm would piss me off totally ... ... man, when I hear such stories I even get scared going to psy parties because when there's a razzia all the fun is gone even though I have done nothing and have no drugs :(

I hate the police!

And you don't even get the ticket money back!

4. Amen wasn´t that dissapointing imo, the tracks are made by the good old synths and some tracks wre really like oldschool, nexus was superb but Amen was still good, or Technodrome, the rest was a bit below moderate IMO. For example Ten is one of the woreset albums i know.

486412

Yes, yes, this is actually true. I forgot to mention this desastrous piece of crap called TEN. Apart from this stinker I like APs albums quite well though, also the Amen that so many people bitch about. And I am also still looking forward to Open Society (after all Ten wasn't by AP themselves, it was just a remix album) ... but when it's crap "DJ condom in da wrong hole"-stuff I'm off :P
5. Man, this discussion can go on forever and 3 days. We will never reach a point. To each his/her own. I will continue to download in the same manner as I am doing since the last year or so - occasionlly, a bit ... in the whole last year I downloaded about 3 albums and maybe another 50 tracks of psy music, not more. I will not stop that. You can't make me stop that. Already when an artist is coming here to do a live and I dunno anything of him I try to check one or two mp3s. And when the sound is satisfying I'll go to the live set. You can't change that.

But I also will continue to buy music as occasionally as before - like five to eight albums a year. Because I can't just always leech, I think the scene deserves that I give something in return, even if I can hardly afford CDs with the 70 Euros I have for private spendings except food and clothing each month.

I'll tell you what is rather simple however... if you don't want anyone downloading music, don't ever release it to the public. Save it for the live sets. Now that's simple ;)

486092

I know an even better move: releasing of rare vinyl gatefold LPs, hand numbered, with big fat thick ten page booklet with artist information, artwork, writings, anecdotes ... the whole thing limited to 500 copies worldwide, the first 100 coming on neon green vinyl with an autographed huge blacklight poster. THAT would let people get out their purses, hah! And when all are sold and people are craving for more, because the music is so good and there are so few records and they all go away for astronomic prices on Ebay you release another 300 gatefold double vinyls, the first one being the original vinyl and the additional vinyl being a remixes single of the first one with three or so remixes ... all that with different artwork and an even thicker booklet with pictures of the releaseparty of the first vinyl, the first 100 again coming with a neat poster. Collectors will run your door in! No matter how many people download the album, enough people will pay astronomic prices for the vinyls (yes, they will, just look at which values the oldschool classics go, you gotta make it like that!) because of the artwork and all that!
6. I quite like AP. And surprisingly (in contrary to all the people that say past was good, present is crap) I'm still liking them. I liked Trust In Trance, I liked Dancing Galaxy (in fact this was the song that brought me to AP back then), I don't know the whole Amen album, but what I know of it I find pretty decent too. I also found that sample of Open Society decent. I dunno, I still find them not bad ... but if they get really crap fullon then I'll also not like them anymore :P

If they drop by here for a live set I'd be one of the first that would go see 'em.

7. His artistname is doof because it is his familyname that he used for his artistname, he is called Nick doof.

485378

hahaha, you know that the word "doof" means stupid in german, don't you?

That's why I always had to chuckle as I saw the artist name Doof.

8. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

oh man, you almost made me choke on my breakfast

THIS CAN'T BE REAL! PLEASE, GOOD GOD!

I mean ... look at the text ... this surely gets on the very top of the list of psytrance engrish!

And the dude ... I am sooo laughing my ass off at the dude ... lol, he will be the new Skazi of darkpsy! LOL!

I still refuse to accept that this is not a fake though!

9. I agree with this argument. If you can't find rare tracks of very old compilations, (especially from deceased labels which don't exist any more), on the shops near your home or on the online website shops, where can you find them? Does it exist an other solution? I think that mp3 is maybe the unique solution in this case.

485620

it's also sometimes the only way to listen to some highly limited releases ... for example when there are only 500 existing copies of something epic dark medieval ambient on the market, all going for astronomic prices because there are several frantic collectors of the stuff out there that would give away their left kidney for it you sometimes simply have no choice!
10. i guess promo CDs value less than the retail CDs, cause i care about the cover work as well. the product includes the package, the package stands for "image".

485610

Most cardboard sleeve promos have a cover print on them if the labels can afford ... on the front they have the same cover as the retail CD, on the back they have the tracklist (usually also the same backprint as the retail CD) and the "for promotional use only"-print.

The promo discs of the big labels nowadays have even samples in them that say "this is a promo" or something ... I have a Gravedigger - The Last Supper promo where this is the case - in the beginning of a song and sometimes in the middle somebody's reminding me that it's a promo ... that is some annoying crap <_<

11. Well, for old stuff I do what I can to track down interesting promos on CDs... But the thing with CDs is that nowadays, they are usually just CD-Rs... Not many labels take the effort to actually make properly pressed promo-CDs anymore... And CD-Rs really have little value to me... When I receive CD-R promos, I usually just give them to one of my friends when I later get the retail version...

485597

Yes, that's true ... if a promo would just be a CDR I'd also not give anything for it ... I'm only focusing on the CDs in cardboard sleeves without booklet, the CD itself looking like the original but just without the jewel case and on the cardboard just the cover and tracklist printed. That's what I mean as "Promo", the CDRs are crap. But I'd probably still go for them if somebody gave them to me (or if it's good stuff scheduled for release in some months)...

And Cinos, your case that you get an ordinary retail version as promo is also common - in that case the label just tells the pressing company to press 100 or so more copies of the normal CD with booklet and such, that lets the price per item probably decrease even more and thus everybody's happy...

12. What's your attitude towards promos?

I mean, do you collect them or not, do you find them more "31337" than the actual release? Would you pay more for a promo than for a normal CD? Would you pay less? Would you buy promos at all?

Because with promos I already registered that there obviously exist two basic opinions: one is that they are worth a shitload of money (obviously because of the fact you can't buy them in stores and they're limited to a small number) - and the other one is that they're worth nothing (obviously because they're free promo copies and it's illegal to make money by selling them).

I personally am not a promo hunter, although I appreciate it when I can get them for cheap. I don't care if I have a promo or the actual release apart from the fact that a promo has no booklet, but that's not relevant in the psy scene. I would never pay more for a promo than for the normal CD.

13. ^i TO TA LLY agree

no variation whatsoever in the line-up, although there are some interesting artists for sure. tis a bloody shame chillout isnt seriouly considered @ most parties. and even when it is, who is the last to get paid? indeed: the chillout dj's...  :(

452572

haha, so true...

Next Friday, Kindzadza coming, what do they say for chill?

"Chill: who needs?" (they say on goabase) ... I mean, they gonna have a Bollywood cinema, but wtf, that stuff for chilling on a psy party?

14. Agreed, I downloaded much in the past and still do a little. But meanwhile I somewhat chose to support the artists a bit. At least a little bit so that I don't just leech EVERYTHING, after all they work quite hard sometimes too to release quality stuff :)

Besides the hunt and the final getting of rare releases for not much money are a cool thing and when you then finally got it it for cheap you are the happiest man :)

15. Posted Image

Coming soon! :D

485325

"Staring At The Sun" ... lol, that is a song by Attwenger

"Und de schaun in die sun in irgendana stodt und donn draht si no wos um wos si bis jetz net umdraht hot...."

best song ... it's even kinda psy (from the lyrics), so it even fits for the cover, hahaha

np: Attwenger - Sun

16. come on guys, don't be so mean! :)

i mean, think a bit .. if you saw that car on the street .. wouldn't you go: "ahahaha wonderful! this car just made my day!"

and then y'all would go home and do a few clicks to get some more info on that party.

485061

I don't think so ... I'd shake my head at this pathetic thing. Advertising a psy party! Doesn't that shock you? Maybe I need to say it again: ADVERTISING a psy party! Doesn't that shock you now? Come on, this stuff is supposed to be underground and no chav shitheads shall be attracted by such ridiculous idiotic painted cars! Soon we'll have the Golf GTI shithead division with their oh so cool spoilers everywhere and whatnot on the cars get their frecking crap vehicles spraypainted like that! Psychedelic Tunning! Arrrgh, fuck it, makes me wanna go get a freakin' big hammer and go doin' some workout in the night ... good for my arm muscles, grrr...
