These pop-up etc. ads are totally annoying and will become a psynews killer . org

@RTPand the owner and mod people. This can not continue.

To each and everybody who saw these ads: PLEASE USE BRAVE BROWSER ... I am using it and I saw no ad, zero, zilch ... and I had not any adblockers to configure...

...if you would not have called it out, I would NEVER have noticed...

...you better use Brave anyways because for Web 4.0 you will need crypto integration, which Brave has built in (Ethereum B) )...

...and if you really fancy ads (who does  ), you can do that in Brave but you get paid for it in BAT tokens which you can donate us seamlessly with the button at the top, in the address bar ... or go over to Ektoplazm - Basilisk accepts them aswell :)

    ...anyway...

By the way, these badges are terrifying, I don't like them...

I do find a badge system cool, but only for the "peculiar" stuff that happens here, you know

  2. I think it can't be separated, unfortunately. They all will keep too many dirty data. And that's that. Blockchain can be used though to make the format interchangeable. You click a link on TikTok - block added to your chain, which also YouTube can see... ^_^

But there's one major good about these things: I can evaluate by YouTube suggestions that people get if they are compatible with me or not...

...my best friend for example -- whoa, he had a lot of identical recommendations even though he only rarely ever listens to psytrance. Stunning to see that!

Better indication than Parship or any of these matching algos :P

That's advice for you right there, dear reader. Avoid divorce by checking YouTube suggestions of your spouse before marriage :D

  3. Wow, respect - I can not compare algorithms, I am not on TikTok or on Insta. Also not on Spotify. YouTube is actually my only home for consuming content in masses ... and amazon, because of some exclusives...

Youtube knows me quite well, if you counted all the man hours that went into me feeding that machine while searching for obscure music videos and whatnot, you'd be a pretty rich man...

... it would be cool if that history or "key of preferences" was interchangeable between platforms, I must say ... then I don't have to wade through loads of crap when going on a non-native platform...
...but what am I saying. That would be the total surveillance of internet activity, wouldn't it - and I am not a fan of that, actually. Plus it makes people quite vulnerable to manipulation, doesn't it? :)

...preaching to drink water and drinking wine doesn't go well together, eh?

However, blockchain could help that the data at least is not tampered with while being openly accessible ... that would be okay as long as the match between key and human behind is not feasible, because that would not be to my liking. Just imagine my boss or an institution asking me about this track "Sludgy Heads found in a Handbag" by Megaptera that I listened to AGES ago ... "strange fascinations or violent tencdencies much?" :P

  4. I just have a YouTube generated playlist going which served me two monsters of a track right after another, that I honestly confess to not have known before, but daaaamn they are good...

    ...I mean see for yourself:

    grafik.png

Ulrich Schnauss ... daaamn awesome ... and that Tripswitch Remix of "Water From A Vine Leaf", absolutely great...
...by the way, the subsequent track after these two is Vibrasphere - Erosion ... also brilliant, but I knew that one before :)

...the oddity about it being, however, that I started off with a band that is not directly related to these supertracks in my opinion (QNTAL ... more Goth than anything else =) ... as you can see ... so apparently these tracks were linked by the algorithm with me previously giving the right input...

...which is cool, because it gives each and every click on YouTube that I did before more meaning, more depth...

...but that also made me think further:

I believe there is a key that you can feed the algorithm so that it creates the most blissful, most perfect damn insane top-of-the-world playlist, custom forged for you individually.
The key consists of a series of tracks you have to search for and listen, giving them a like.
But it goes way beyond the good old "people who have listened to this track also liked..." method. This method usually delivers pure garbage in my case, I am a very special character (no offense to anybody else - I actually mean this in a bad way) and it has let me down so many times...
...but when the algorithm gets more and more material from me, it can craft more and more special things, diving down into these small backalleys of genre border areas where I like to roam about and then, when it has roamed there enough, boom! there it is, the perfect combination.
It can be a long key and it can take years until it is complete. But with every interaction with the system, bits of this key are confirmed true or false...
The cool thing about this is: every human being in this world has such a key.
And it feels right now if QNTAL were the last missing part to mine :)

By this rule, cases like this should continue to become more common. Or not? What do you think?

It also has made me think of a story. I have this idea for a story about this machine - or complex of machines - that gather information in this way, ultimately becoming so powerful they can find out these keys for each and every human being...
However, I don't really know what to do with the story when all keys are known. What then?
Or is this not a story, but reality?

... and because I find him equally hilarious

  6. thinking again, you might maybe enjoy this more @abasio

I remember this from another thread where I mentioned that...

Akanoid started out as a psytrance group, that's why there's so much of that in there...

Do check out both albums cocktail Pop and Civil Demon ... and the earlier ones are just normal psytrance

  7. Ahem: https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/76772-go_a-instead-of-goa-will-be-the-new-hype/

Yes, I would recommend that song on this occasion :D

But other than that, there's more that I could recommend ... @abasio I understand your addiction, it has got me too, I have to find new stuff that has this special something ... unfortunately 99% of what the YouTube algorithm recommends is unusable in this regard, but when you find a gem, the joy is absolutely huge.

I do not have anything that uses real psytrance 1:1, but lots of vibe comes across and I hope that is sufficient:

That Aura song is horrible  ... I think all artists involved can do better...

imo Mothership Loudspeakerz did a LOT better job by remixing K/DA - Villain:

maybe he should remix Aura

so he is not quitting music.. only a little bit? man, i dont understand this person. He damn near wrote a manifesto on why his quitting the psy scene, now hes saying "oh that was just the soundcloud account" . dafuq.

To me that just seems to be his style  ... I read enough of the threads back then and almost everywhere there was beef ... honestly, this is one of the fewer threads about or with him that have not yet turned into a flame / warn / ban fest (and I credit everybody for that) ... but whether my memory is right or not doesn't change the fact that I never understood him - which is why I rarely argued in those threads, because the only thing that could become of it is beef, actually.

I have to give Kristian credit though for two things: his amazing music - and the sheer power to completely derail the peace on this forum every once and a while

    "Drama, baby" :D

I have still an album from Akanoid, but it irritated me with some vocals, seems they went more to synthpop on that one. In fact I like some synth-wave-pop but Akanoid seemed on the cheesier side of things. Not like old Depeche, Beborn Beton, Wolfsheim or so (from those I like almost all "older" works).
I always somehow associate Akanoid with Element, I believe later Element tracks also had some kind of vox and both are from Germany. Transform album however has some kewl tracks.

    (...)

Here a link for Akanoid (ger):

    https://www.backstagepro.de/akanoid

Brings back memories not only was I right they went synthpop, vox and guitars - but also the new label from them was Echozone., I know this one well, when I was writing for a "dark scene/Indus/ebm/synth etc" magazine, the Echozone stuff mostly was quite poppy so was not to thrilled getting promos from this label (tbh). I even know the metalband from one of the members "Dark Millennium"

Here the CD I have: https://www.discogs.com/de/Akanoid-Metamorphin/release/341867

Ha, I am just listening to Akanoid again, thought I'd mention them in this thread - but I was happy to find out that they already are named. That is good, I like when more people know them! You also brought in some facts I didn't know.

I also remember @Tatsu mentioning "Instant Summer" somewhere, which is a great album by Akanoid and some say it's their best.

The album you have must be Cocktail Pop, right? That was the first on Echozone.
Or it was Civil Demon ... but on that one, they left pretty much everything that connected them to the psytrance world. It's a pity, because their old tracks really had good potential ... yes, they were not always perfect, but it gave me a really good vibe listening to them...

Apparently they are still around (20th anniversary in 2019 - just before Psynews), but their last work "Noi" is 5 years old and I remember that I listened to it, it had nothing of the old style :(

Oh WTF up to 1:50 this sounded promising :( They surely know how to put irritating stuff in their songs :)

Apparently he is in hot water for the general theme and cover of the track...don't really see why, surprised me that a psytrance artist would get in trouble for anything.

that surprises me too ... why hot water ... where is that discussion?

The track is OK, but I'm afraid Psytrance may be used as an instrument for a purpose that it can, in my opinion, not completely fulfill - our music is rather not very political in nature ... except some interesting exceptions of which you already portrayed some (Demagoguery of the Obscurants for example :) ).

But if the purpose are a little "Fxck the system" kind of vibes then it's not the right delivery imo...

This is certainly not the type of music I would normaly listen to, but yesterday I was at some friends place and one of them is from Ukraine and she proudly showed us this music with the live performance. It was interesting, I can understand the entertainment value, it was very high-octane and over the top, a bit of a visual overload.

    Sweet

Ukraine is nice ... crazy in a very good way ... even though I don't speak a word of their language.

  14. I'm just thinking:

Recently I contacted someone to do a remix ... price was 500 EUR

    If you charged 500 EUR for your trax you'd make 194 716 * 500 = 97 358 000 EUR

97 million EUR ... that's some damn big money

  15. See? The plot thickens. I think some forces want them to win the ESC.

I am just thinking. Should I place a bet?

Indeed, btw S-Range is from Sweden I noticed on discogs now. I might even have seen him live here sometime who knows. :D And yeah very difficult to compare artists with so different styles. Surely each contributed to their respective style. Did S-Rante enter the scene with the S-Range alias around 2000 as it says on discogs, or was he around earlier under a different alias? Perhaps doing more classic goa or something?

yeah, Swedish origin, now living in Brazil :D ... sometimes I thought that moving somewhere warm and nice would also be my dream ... but now I don't wanna be over there, just like it's the case with my desire to go to India, not the best place to be right now :(

Nah AFAIK he never had other names before S-RANGE ... it stands for the "Esrange" (european space range) which you might know and which was also one of his first tracks ... later on there were a few more names, such as Agent 17, but he dropped that one strangely quick after I asked him about another Agent 17 act and if it was him...

PREX are S-Range and Noma by the way.

  17. there's a new one by This Morn Omina, it's called The Roots of Saraswati ... bloody awesome, but don't be fooled by the indian title suggesting it might be peaceful, it's dark and intense and mysterious, just like good whisky -_-

I'm not fully through yet, but here's a playlist:

*edit* just noticed that it wasn't the thread about AP's upcoming album. :D Regarding the topic of this thread, it's quite easy for me since I've never heard anything from S-Range besides a track or two back on Destination Goa? So for me AP win of course. They changed the game and their influence is reverberating in pretty much all of the neo goa.

Damn, haven't even clicked on my signature once? :P

In my opinion you clearly have a deficit when it comes to S-Range ... maybe won't float your boat that much as a Goatrance lover, but he's a pretty good progressive trance act, well, at least started as such ... and Test Tones is a classic, you should know that.

Anyway, it started as a fun thread ... I don't want any of my favourite artists match up against each other, I want a new album from both, that's for damn sure. But I'm just blown away that these two acts haven't released any new album yet, it's been so long since I wrote that post above...

  19. EXHUMED!

    ... because it's still relevant :P

Shiiit, it's 9.5 years ago since I started this

Ain't that sad that these two just won't do a new one. I wanted to make a fun thread back then, but oh man, I really do have come across the thought that maybe they don't release anymore because I like them ... back then, everything that I was a fanatic of stopped releasing ... Mortiis Era 1 was another one. That's why I was starting to think that. Fortunately I have meanwhile realized that it's not that. There are tons of great other stuff out there :)
But dang, even Mortiis came back already with his old stuff :D ... it really is funny, peculiar, a bit sad, but above all _damn interesting_ that these two haven't made a new album yet.

Well, let's look at the status, shall we:

We have both contesters made progress over the last 9 years. There have been digital releases of both of them. ASTRAL made more though...

S-RANGE is remixing his stuff and plans to make "version 2.0" versions of his tracks, at least according to facebook comments. So he's NOT dead.

ASTRAL are, according to what's going on in the Astral thread, "very close" to release the new album.

    The race is still on!

And you know what? I don't know anymore who will win :D ... but I can tell you, the second I stop caring about either of the two, they gonna come out with the new album :D

    I bet :P

  20. So here's a bit of an update on what I am up to right now.

I consider this "compilation project" as a FAIL - maybe it would have been working if I had been less lazy, but I have to admit that I don't think it's entirely my fault, I just had quite little luck reaching the artists that I wanted to be on there.

Now some of you may have heard of the idea that I wanted to make RTP RECORDS. Well, bugger, because I have just discovered, that there is another RTP RECORDS out there which are around already since 1991 ... they only have released so little that they are not very known in the wider world and it had not reached to me...

    That is crap.

I will ask these guys if it's OK to keep my project name. I just like RTP RECORDS. I have dreamt of this name while showering ... for years... :D

I am not giving up though, also project-wise I have still a few ideas and I'd like to give a sneak-peek about them. Ever heard of NFTs? Non-fungible tokens. These things are really interesting - it can practicaly be what you want, but the practical use is to prove ownership of digital art ... such as images or, in a case relevant for us, tracks. The cool thing about them is, that they can be sold smart-contract-based, so nobody could lie. The idea is to make artists do a track, I sell it as an NFT and if someone buys it, the artist can have the money that was agreed upon initially AND profit from every future transaction that is done with that piece.

So if I went for that, I could also change the name of the project very easily :)

This then also would go in tune with the remark that @psytones did, namely that maybe "RTP Records" is not a really fitting name when I don't release any RECORDS ... well, that'd be even more true if that NFT plan came to reality...

And what if people don't sell me any trax? Well, hehe, I have an escape mutation ready for that aswell ... it don't need to be trax for NFTs. I can also turn images or other content into them ... and if I turned into a small-scale little "investor" that pays a few bucks to underground art projects to make an NFT out of art I like and make them partners in the NFT sales, so everybody will be happy once something sells, I'd be freakin' happy aswell. Only thing that I want to get back in are the listing fees, otherwise it's a deficit project. But other than that ... I just want to be known as a friendly guy who's givin' back into the scene. I don't mind so much in what form it'll be.
