  1. listening to beatless ambient to me is like laying down on grass and staring at clouds looking for different shapes. you have to engage yourself to fully appreciate it, and i think that's why it's my favorite kind of music. even when i don't focus on it too much it can transform the atmosphere for me so it's really enjoyable if i want to read a book or do something lazily!!!

  2. First for me would be Peter Gabriel's Passion, soundtrack to The Last Temptation of Christ. Desert island material for me. The album is on YouTube

    .

The Blade Runner soundtrack is great. Other 70s/80s sci-fi scores like Star Wars (

is especially awesome), Close Encounters, Tron and The Black Hole (movie here - one of my all-time faves, and the opening theme is wicked) are great to me because I was young and they permanently attached themselves to me.

I also really like the Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack, as well as Bernard Herrmann's music for Ray Harryhausen's films, like Jason and the Argonauts.

    +2 for these two

    +1 for the fountain :D

  3. I don't think he is actually trying to give a really accurate description of all the genres. And some he made up himself like buttrockgoa. And others he left out like progressive psytrance. Don't take it too seriously (how can you with these descriptions :P ) and just enjoy yourself i'd say.

    in ambient psy:

Ultimately musicians of all genres are going to figure out that they can make slower, more moody versions of their music, which means that sooner or later there's going to be Ambient 2-step here, and Ambient Hardcore, and Ambient NRG, and Ambient Freestyle, and Ambient Ambient. Well, it could've been worse. It could have been "Progressive Psy". (No, I'm not adding it, you goa turds. Shut the hell up)

  4. since i was a kid i never liked what everyone else liked. i always thought in any randomly chosen group of people there are more stupid ones than wise ones, so it never made any sense to me to follow the popular trend. that led me to metal music when i was in elementary school (even back then i never liked Metallica that much mostly because everyone else liked them!!!). i had the same attitude towards anything else, movies, books, science, food, ...

this attitude made me explore many different genres including psytrance. and these days i don't really listen to psytrance that much. so i guess without psytrance i would have explored other genres :D

but the thing is psy music in general kindda encapsulates my emotions. psy being psy- metal, rock, trance, ambient or whatever else. so without that i probably would have been a movie addict now watching random self produced documentaries and shorts!!!
