1. they release a fuck load of cds... most is crap imo... but there are some gems... some compilations are quite good, and some artists cds too (peter gun and sonic cube as profane mentioned)..

definitely the kind of label you should listen before you buy, but as I said, occasionally you find some good stuff

  2. I didnt get curious about this release, and will probably not take my time to hear it... seems to fast and like EP said, prog/full on... I dont like that..

but I still believe in iboga...

the ´playground´ compilation took a few listens, but I actually quite enjoy a few tracks there now.. specially the antix remix of the freq track..

  3. Prog is perfect for the end of the outdoor party. Slow and groovy. For night time put's me to sleep!

I also find that people in the Prog scene take far more drugs to get a kick out of the music! Psy beats twist your brain already!

two very controversial quotes there.. Firstly for me as a prog lover I think it SUCKS to have to wait the whole party listening to noisy full on only to hear 1 dj at the end of the party that plays prog... I totally disagree with that one.. Different progs are good at different times.. dark prog is good for the night, housy prog is good for morning and for sunrise/sunset..

and the second quote, I also disagree... I see much more full on/goa people taking ecstasy and sucking on their lollypops than in prog music, for example.. I guess in the end it depends and there´s no such strict link between which type of music and ammount of drugs, but just showing you how one (me) can observe the exact opposite as you do

  4. Although it's really nice to have a huge collection of music but i personally find it useless to have such a great amounts. I try to focus on buying only things that i really like and that unfortunatelly is getting only fewer. I don't feel the urge to buy some oblivious compilation from 1996 just because there's a Hallucinogen track there that i don't have anywhere else. I try to focus on byuing stuff that i really like.

agree 100%! Why would I spend money on something I dont listen to? that is just waste imo... all the cds I have I listen to, without exception...

  5. I really dig the lime structure cd by vibrasphere! awesome stuff

there is a new upcoming album from them (actually him.. one of the members quit I think) later this year...

and yeah, there are plenty more recomendations as furthur has said and even more..

btw, as for sonkite, yeah pretty great stuff.. but I like even more their even more progressive side project called Minilogue (check the ´leloo´ track)

oh and one thing.. know that genre classification is very subjective.. people differ in what they consider prog or full on or whatever, its not an objective science.. but there are some ´constants´.. I doubt anybody would consider antix as full on, or astrix as progressve :)

as for rinkadink.. it doesnt sound progressive to me... maybe psychedelic full on or something... its much better than things like astrix or alien project, imo, but its not progressive I reccon

  6. man Im tired and I have to wake up early tomorrow...

ok let me say a little hehe

the word progressive first came because progressive trance was a change in the normal goa/early full on trance, so this with this change, this new style came up, (just like ´progressive rock´ was a change to the normal rock when it came up)..

Nowadays, prog (short for progressive obviously) is used not in terms of change (since its been around for a while and some progressive are not very innovative.. some are, but not all)

but in general, progressive stands for a slower type of trance, with not so many layers and thousands of noise all around... in that way, each sound becomes more important, there is a great emphasis on the details.. So for example. instead of a 145bpm track full of millions of effects and melodies, you get a 135bpm very groovy track, with a different bassline and worked patterns, many details and trippy sounds..

there are different progressive types.. there are the darker progressive (like sensient) there are the more housy progressive (v-tunes, vision and canedy, etc)... the borders between housy progressive and house are not very fixed... Actually progressive in general many times flows and can be mistaken with some techhouse, or progressive house, etc...

for some good progressive names, I suggest:

Antix (check out the ´Lull´ cd)

phony orphants (check out the ´Symphony´ cd)

    andre absolut

    beckers

    vision and canedy

    frogacult

many others to say.. check those out and if you like, I give more recomendations..

  7. so you guys are counting the non-electronic too?

the electronic ones are more organized.. As I said, they are sorted more or less by genre, and inside genres I put more or less in the order I bought them...

now the non-electronic, I also try more or less to sort by genres, but they are not very organized.. I somehow find them easily though..

  8. im not excited for this one.. not even too curious... After the ´pandora´s...´ cd, I was too dissapointed to wait for something really good from them..

there are some other prog releases which are enticing my curiosity for this year.. like new phony orphants, new antix (!!), new vibrasphere (!!), new ticon (!!), and new jaia (!!)

  9. Anyone who can give me some recommendations on more 'loungy' chill and more 'fat and dirty urban chill'? Those two sound interesting....

    228835

ok some recs as you asked:

Sounds from the ground - luminal (fat and dirty more urban chill)

Gabriel le mar - Nightradio (melodic night chill to sit in your roof and watch the stars)

Sandspider - music for an imaginary film (hard to describe.. but check it out hehe)

Ten Madison - Milk (more loungy chill, with some influence from prog trance)

V.A. - Chill Pill (loungy sexy chill, nice to be with a girl)

  10. since I dont have many cds in the electronic genre (maybe close to 50 now? gotta count sometime), I dont need to think too much about it..

I fit them all in my case... I put first the more upbeat ones on the first half of the case, and on the second half of the case I put the downbeat/dub/chill ones...

  11. WHAT? prog music is not melodic? man you´ve just been listening to the wrong stuff, or you need to clean your ears :P

cheesy? Well cheesy I understand in terms of ´romantic´.... Not that the music talks about love necessarily, but there is this ´oh I love you´, or ´plur´ vibe in a melodie or sample/vocals...

not all cheese is bad though... there are ugly and smelly french cheeses, and some good and effective muzzarella or cottage cheases :D

  12. ok I just received this cd yesterday (finally hehe)

Very good stuff!! fat tech house with a constant dark feeling throughout the cd.. That ´end of the clubgame´ track, wow thats like so fucked up hahahah.. The cocaine addict girl screaming, so wasted and fucked up, but somehow sexy... You can imagine the situation, by the sounds and the girl sample, how it must feel to be in that state

indeed like you said, krelm, this cd has some cheesy moments (like that ´time - murk chab vocal mix´ track, or the beginning of Rene Amesz track), but this cheesyness is always overwelmed by a very dark and clubby vibe..

Excellent mixing, very nice choice of tracks.... Probably causes some heart problems in dancefloors worldwide :)

    Ticon

    ticon rocks!!

those swedish faggots sure know how to make music hahahaha

no but really, Im really looking forward to their new album

  13. How about, I try to set one up on my system?! If people will behave thats ok with me. If it becomes popular, maybe mars will integrate it?! :)

    Just a thought :)

    227773

I think its a good idea.. post the link for us heh?

and naiman and all the others using the ´killaaaaaaaaaaaaa´ arguments:

do you guys really think that these people in psynews will act like that?!

I really doubt, from all the people I know here, that they will be posting KILLA comments

  14. DEFINITELY check out Ott - Blumekraft...

also check out Waterjuice - Melbaphonics (darker mid-tempo stuff, darker feeling, big basslines)

and Sounds From the Ground - Luminal (fat dub-like chill.. dont know how to describe it, maybe more 'urban')

a lot more to say, but lets not mention too many names now hehe..

since you didnt specify that you want specifically chill stuff, I suggest you check out some electro releases too...

check out the recently released Chosen Vol 3.. I knew a couple of tracks, and the rest by name, but Im pretty sure it will be very good.. Its a mixture of tech house and electro, I would say

check out Floorfiller Dirty too, for a more dirty type of electro

check out the cd compiled by tiefschwarz, called Misch Masch (avaliable on amazon... dont know where else.. but there are samples there)... fat and dirty electro

  15. do you like chill stuff with some vocals?

    Yes, if it's done well.

Like Luciana? No. Like the rest of Juno Reactor ambient (shango!), yes. If it's even darker, no, I'll have nightmares  ;) .

do you like chill with a more ´loungy´ feeling?

    Not really.

do you like more fractal (lsd like) oriented chill, as opposed to earthy/shroomy (forgot who said it) chill like shpongle ?[/b

    I don't know.

do you like more fat and dirty urban chill?

    Not really.

    Whew, that was hard.

    226847

my case is upstairs, so Ill have to go from the top of my mind on this one.. maybe I add some other ones later...

chill with vocals, and arab feeling:

    Kaya Project - Walking Through

maybe Angel Tears - Vol 4 (vision)

    Happy Chill:

Abakus - That Much Closer to The Sun

    V.A. - Butterfly Dawn

dark chill: (dont know luciana, and only a bit of juno, so I cant compare)

    Phutureprimitive - Subconscious

    Waterjuice - Melbaphonics

    Fractal chill:

Shulman - In Search of A Meaningful moment

(im pretty sure there are more to recommend.. I post here some other time, so check out the thread tomorrow)

  16. hehe well, it depends...answer my questionaire first (haha)

for each yes you get one or 2 reccomendations :)

  17. great!!

I really enjoyed listening to your downbeat sets (and the Ooze ´live´) in Universo Parallelo.. Great stuff.. Hope its good like those

    cheers!

(and if I may ask.. any chance of new ooze this year?)

btw quark.. maybe you should post this pic in the pic thread in off-topic section? :)

  18. Who is this "traders" anyway, and what is so horrible with them?

All the DJ's I know in the goa scene have always been "trading" tracks.

I mostly viewed them as dedicated music fans constantly looking for new music that they might like.

Gill for example is one of the typical DAT traders having copying sessions in goa, and he's posting top 10's on his site and in magazines all the time.

But yes, he's big and famous, so thats ok.

But if a young guy without connections is on the hunt for interesting music and find the labels too slow with releasing material or can't find much material he like released, then he's one of the bad traders.

It only reeks elitism to me, so I really must say I think all this discussions about kids posting unreleased tracks in a top 10 is mainly founded on two perspectives:

Either from people that is dedicated CD collectors who feel that it is unfair that they spend lots of money on their collection and always is one step behind because the labels is too slow and too limited in thier selection.

Or you have the traders who have a lot of copy sessions with their connections who feel their elit position is threatened because iit's much easier for anyone to build a collection of fresh or interesting non-released tracks.

It makes me feel very sad and loose all hope in this scene when people openly seem to be defending that only people with lots of money or connections should be able to get hold of the music.

    Fuck the elitists.

    226830

    very well said...

and I mostly agree with you... but you gotta agree that there are indeed some ego-driven traders that never go to any party, just download music to show off their latest unreleased and maybe dont even enjoy the music so much, and may be doing more harm than good to the ´scene´..

of course, who are we to judge? I mean, this same person may from one day to the other change and start buying or going to parties or really enjoying the music and bringing others into it or whatever....

Im just saying that mp3s have their advantages and disadvantages, their bad side and the good side...

(btw, I always thought about this point you were mentioning that the people who have original collections feel threatened because traders can get better collections in no time, thus threatening the collector´s ´territorial´ position... you defined it very well :) )

still: I would like a top 10 section here, to check out the tastes of people I am talking to for a long time in this forum, and also to get to know new artists I didnt know before and are my taste :)

  19. never used discogs.. I have too small electronic collection to show off anyway hahaha (40cds more or less), but at least I only have cds that I listen to all the time.. no bad or average cds at all imo...

cinos.. I suggest you get some more/better ambient stuff.... :)

  20. well, I think if there was a top 10 section here, it would definitely take a different direction than on isratrance

Yes, basilisk, top 10 in isratrance is just a help for traders to search for music...

I think this is how it should be somehow.. I mean, taking myself as an example.. If I find some top 10 that has a few tracks I like, and some I dont like, I would definitely download the ones I dont know to check out (but of course I wouldnt post KILAAAAA comments).. Then, if I like the tracks and Im still under the budget of the month, I definitely buy what I like...

Im sure this happens with a lot of people, and would happen specially in psynews (where I have seen in discussions and such that many people trade, but all or almost all of these that trade also buy their favourites)

not to mention the fact that I would definitely go to some psyparty where some favourite that I just found out plays..

So I dont think it would be a bad thing.. I would like this to happen here
