1. yes, I probably would've like it better if it wasn't for the 1001 remixes that came afterwards...

    371425

I havent heard any remix from it that I remember.... but since I like prog house stuff, I can imagine that it could be made into very very good material...

Check this place out...vast collection of different types of Electronic Music Genres and their origins.  The Flash has Sound samples as well....VERY NEAT

    1.  GO HERE:  http://www.di.fm/edmguide/

    2.  Click on the link that says "Launch Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music!"

    371428

I really disagree with this guide, to tell you the truth.. too much opinion from the guy instead of a bit more of objectivity.. and some wrong things

  2. there are some good djs indeed there (max graham, luke fair, satoshie tomiie, andy moor, gabriel&dresden, tiga, nick warren, michel de hey etc)... but there are some very shitty ones too (astrix, yahel, im, erick morillo, and some other really pop stuff)

and many lacking.. d-nox should be there imo... great dj.. or maybe not, cause his ego would get even more inflated than it already is

  3. what should be played?

hmmm.. most of what I would say would be in the border community (penton, subsky, chable, absolut, beckers etc)

but, some that are obviously not normal psy trance and that I would play (and who knows, maybe even WILL play in the gathering if I learn to play good till then: )

    martin h - sounds reviving

    martin h - leia

chable and the dirty fours - tokyo (nubreed rmx)

inkfish vs martin h - eye am (david west rmx)

    don ramon - freak frogs

    some tiefschwarz tracks

    some martinez tracks

    etc

Well, I have been thinking about this subject matter a lot lately, and the conclusion I reached is that i would like a psytrance party without any music from the regular psygenre.

Weird you think? Hers my reasoning:

First, of all, i was attracted to this scene because of 1. the music  , and 2. the parties ( that means atmosphere, people, decoration, the "everything can go attitude", the low egos etc...).

    Whats happening today:

1: 98% percent of the music released into the psyscene is shit. It is not psychedlic at all, its ravemusic with rolling basslines and digital farting sounds. Its not trance and its not psychedelic, therefore the term "psytrance" is blasphemy, IMHO. Trance in its original sense is hypnotic and not fast at all. Psychedelic means mindexpanding, ethereal and trippy. The current "Psytrance" is as far from that as you can go. Its fast, abrasive, cheesy and  straight hit to the face, theres nothing, absolutely nothing, trippy or minexpanding about it.

However, theres tons of music around that is trancy and psychedelic, it just doesnt come from this scene (with a few exceptions, of course). Just as an example, Dominik Eulbergs recent album "Flora&Fauna" released on the Techno label Traum Schallplatten, or most of the "Border Community" label output, ot the stuff from trentemoller, martinez, the pokerflat label etc.....

2: The Psy parties as such, excluding the music, here in germany are awesome, especially the summer festivals. I like the vibe, the people, the surroundings etc..., the parties are a lot better than techno or house parties

Logical Conclusion: Only real psychedelic trance, mostly stuff  that is from outside this scene, should be played at the parties, the rest of the party can stay as it is.

    very well said

  4. ok, my first set in this thread had some lame parts.

so, i wasn't so smart back then, but now i are it.

so this is what i'd nuke the dance floor with (generally a prog trance set):

    2 PM - Catz

Jaia vs. French Kisz - Drifting Planet

Tegma - Myth Of An Angel

    Minilogue - Leloo

Ticon - It Breakz My Heart

Son Kite - On Air (New Disco Science Alliance remix)

    Antix - Le Lascard

    Antix - Hiding Place

Sub6 feat Michele Adamson -  7th Son (Ticon remix)

    Tegma - Clock Next Door

Ticon - Waiting For The Knights

    Ticon - Groovin The Bed

    Vibrashpere - Lemon Phase

    Holm & Andersen - Cityrain

    Beckers - Switch

Midi Miliz - Feet In The Air

Son Kite - Colours (Luke Chable Remix)

Son Kite - Let Us Be (Vibrasphere remix)

    Logic Bomb - Datalinks

    weey :D

i'd like to make a killargh psytrance set (in my mind, not actually make the mix), but i totally suck, cause i wanna put so many different style tracks in it, so i have to find bridge-tracks to make the set sound actually good. i want melodic - the uplifting kind, i want melodic - the psychedelic twisted kind, i want dark, fast, full-on, not full on, etc etc :D

it would not be chaotic, but fun, entertaining, cause nobody would get bored.

    sounds a bit crazy, ha?

    363695

I like it very much :) ... though I dont know midi miliz, logic bomb and 2pm track

  5. ok true but it's not like they move the threads 1000 miles away...

it's just like one click more  :D

    369480

yeah I agree its not the end of the world... but its quite a bit annoying, if I post something in one place and I think it should be in that place, for someone else to move it without any general consensus or even talking to the person who made it ;)

(but enough about this... im done with this moderating talk, I said what I think about it already)

  6. word! booka shade is cool, or m.a.n.d.y, or all border community, the mfa, dominik eulberg is also nice and deep, but more technoish than prog.house.

also if you like it reallyyyyy deep and minimal try martinez or trentemoller.

but, my special recommendation for today "Argy-love dose" on pokerflat recordings, ive been listening to that one like crazy. oh, a little bit older : "bermuda triangle-mooger fooger" as deep and emotional as it gets

    367699

yeah, and if you're going to listen to the likes of martinez and trentemoller, dont forget checking out redanka :) the track 'waves' and the 'faithless - why go (redanka dub)' are special ones

and back to the prog house whatever, 'beckers' is always a definite gem.. there hasnt been one single track from him that I disliked.. If you dont know him, check him out without a doubt

  7. Sorry. Inevitable and premature but so right.

    Antix - Twin Coast Discovery.

    No discussion needed. Case closed.

    363355

yes it is.. antix = best of 2005.. no discussion, case closed :D

Well, I consider it a lot deeper (and more psychedelic, which is a totally subjective thing) than 80% of the pseudo-psychedelic random bleeps and kiiilllllarg bassssslines in dark psy. But it's of course a matter of taste :)

    363402

    exactly..

this 'oh this is not psy' discussion is pretty stupid imo... to me antix is more psychedelic than anything else I heard this year, any of these so called 'psy' whatever.. to others im sure gms is super psychedelic... so lets just quit this 'hidden bashing' of music when we are not into smt

  8. for gsh:

how do you play promo tracks if you only know how to play vinyls?

what about tracks that are not pressed on vinyls (and no dont say this is only for psy trance because there are quite a bit of prog stuff that are not released on vynil.. like some martin h tracks from the last album, or others)?

If I was a dj I would surely play both.. some tracks I love are only on vynil and some only on cd...

got to learn to play both to be a good overal dj imo :)

  9. I dont like THOSE samples.. I dont mind samples in general, just those and in the way shpongle uses... Like the carnival sample from brazil that shpongle uses.. bah.. thats so.... annoying and pretentious and.. I dont know.. Some ppl will disagree with me though

Im not a fan of them, never got into it...

From twisted I preffer a million times Ott over them...

    :)

  10. amazing outdoor locations..

    cool freaky people

lots of ppl that are open to meet others (I always meet someone new, and just one new cool person in my life is already worth a lot)

awesome music ocassionaly (just have to search what you like)

the psychedelic culture (yes, me likes)

sensorial trips (from lights to music to food to backdrops, etc)

keeping the fake social games to a minimum in the right parties..not affraid to be myself

being able to dance with my eyes closed without ppl thinking im weird

    beautiful ppl

    and so and so :)

  11. This album simply ROCKS

    listen with good headphones

amazing... after this, it established itself in the second position for favourite chill artist in my list, just after ott..

(and vibrasphere would be added to compose my top 3 if they had release some full cd... )

so this elixir cd, beautiful, amazing basslines, perfect percussions and acoustic guitars, catchy vocals, etc

It doesnt ´take out´ the first one.. both are amazing in their own way..

    9.5/10 for first 2 listens
