Yes, the bass and the kicks are a little bit thin, some called it flat. Means: melodies are dominant. For me no problem.

You can have a fat kick and bass and dominant melodies, if it has all their own space in the spectrum of frequences. ;)

Afgin uses goa sounds but the whole album just sounds trance, not goa.

I dont unterstand the discussion. Its called Goa-Trance. Goa is Trancemusic. And what trance do you mean? What is regular Trance? Uplifting Trance like Talla? Hardtrance like Gary D? Dutch Trance of the 00s? Eye Q, Harhouse, Sound of Frankfurt?

I agree, I think this album is more back to basics. And shows that Goa doesn’t need to have thousands of layers. :)

Maybe we are listen to different albums. ;) But "Eternal Freedom" uses a lot of layers, delay-effects, thin acidlines playing in the background up an down, etc.: a lot is going on. If you directly compare it to most of the Oldschool, then you hear the difference. How clean and empty Oldschool sounds. ;)

Well I don't mean to crash the party but I'm less impressed with this album,

    Hehe.

No problem. Some critical voices are missing here. ;) As I said before i am not a big fan of the current goa, maybe since the second album of Median Project.

A big benefit goes to the great production quality, mixdown sounds very clean. But maybe at the end it can be the problem, that its sound to perfect, to digital, i think. And at the end with the formualic, generic melodies it bores me. Musically, it doesn't bother me at all. It seems Goa nowaday is reduced of cliche and typical elements.

What do you mean with club trance? Uplifting trance? Talla 2XLC?
The closeness to psytrance and fullon is right, i think. Both i dont like (anymore).

That he did indeed seem to have made some Full-On or perhaps Progressive tracks? So that could explain the fusion of styles you noticed on this album Jon Cocco?

Instead of experiment with elements of Progressive and Full On its for me more interessting to experiment with genres outside of the psy scene: techno, breaks, house and so on. :)

The future keeps looking bright for goa-trance, as we have a few very strong albums coming up the next months! :) We will have a new 100% goa-trance compilation called Suntopia soon! Some names you will find on the compilation: Filteria, Triquetra, Mindsphere & Merr0w but you will also get some surprisingly strong newcomers! :)

The artwork is looking nice. ^_^
I am curious of the tracks by Filteria, Merr0w, Party Droid and Triquetra. Looking forward! :)

The storytelling aspect is what I mostly miss in Techno, and any meaningful conveying of sentiments/experiences.

I think, you dont understand techno. ;) In goa and trance the tracks stand for its own. Techno is more produced for dj-mixes. The storytelling is the work of the dj. One track is more a chapter, and the dj makes the whole story.

But you want some storytelling techno, here we go:

  5. Hmm. I think the current Neogoa is not my taste. I beginn to listen to the tracks and i think wow, cool sounds, high energy, good productions, but later my ears are tired of the wall of sounds without break. Its to overloaded for me, alot of good ideas and espiecally climaxes going under, because the volume is almost the whole track at maximum.

Then i reflected, because i like overloaded music. Example: Filteria. I listen to "Navigate", one of his older tracks. He dont used a lot of sounds, he worked with one big synthline, which demands alot of the frequency spectrum. And also he worked with small parts (only 1-2 seconds) with pure silence or parts with only bass, kick and drums maybe with solos of acid. So my ears can recover and are ready for the next climax.

    most layers sounding completely wrong,

Maybe i am the Dragon-Twins-Fanboy of the forum ;-) , because i like all tracks of this project - its experimental, brave, sounds fresh and also oldschoolish raw. And its no surprise, for me this track is the best of the compilation. What do you mean, "most of the layers sounding completely wrong?" Harmonically? For me its sounds right, all works fine. No wrong notes. :-)

  8. Something is going is in the techno-scene since few years. The sound is more melodic and faster. In the beginning it was called melodic techno. Now, the owner of the new labels (Space Traxx, UTE, ISMUS, ...) are more self confident and call it trance or hardtrance. I love this new fresh old trance-sound. Moreover some of the Djs of this labels play Goatrance in their sets, mix it with Techno and Trance, or mix full goatrance-sets (https://soundcloud.com/x-wave9/11-philipp-drube-24102020), or support Goa-Djs. And now Clements release a track on a compilation by UTE Records. Here it is: https://ute-rec.bandcamp.com/album/utecd002-first-light

Is there a big chance for Goa to celebrate a big comeback on the dancefloor in this new growing scene? :-)

EDIT, I do not want to discuss this, I just stated my opinion as the OP asked for. So I deleted my longer reply.

= Everyone can eat what he wants, as long you do not push it on others agressively (or using shaming etc. tactics)

I think, there is nothing to discuss on my post. I only say there is a book about veganism which deals with facts, not opinions. I read this, because iam interested in nutrition to  change it to more vegetable nutrition. ;-)

My opinion: Everyone can eat what he wants, but should be concerned with his diet and its effects on the environment!

I know this topic is super sensible and I was myself sensible when someone told me veganism is not good... I became a vegertarian and later even went in the vegan direction also.. went "not so good" to say it mildly(in the first 2 or so years yeahh, but do this better only 3-4 months!) - but I do not want to tell my horror life story re. to this. Here 2 ladies, listen to them:

    [...]

Of course be aware, drinking too much milk, eating too much meat, eggs and cheap fats is also wrong. Find a balance, once a week meat is better than no meat and even better if not industrial foods, but just watch the vids.

Iam not vegan, but I recommend that you deal with a vegan diet before you go in practice.

I read this book (only in german): "Vegan Klischee ade" by Nikko Rittenau. He is a nutritionist. His work based only on science. He doesn't gloss over anything, he says what the nutritional science say about veganism. A lot of quotes and a big list of references enable you to check his arguments. His conclusion: A vegan diet is possible and well tolerated and healthy if you pay attention to a few things.

He has also a channel on youtube.

^ @Bartzabel "worst review ever" what i mean is that (also on these quarante times) it would be really nice to read actual reviews in this section and not short promotion posts like that..  :) *mod, delete this post. I dont have a review myself, so.. Right back at me :P.

Look at the older review-sections (until 2002). There are a lot of short comments. And this is ok. Not every post must be an excellent review, i think. Its better many user tell their opinion. :-)

"Beyond the Wormhole" is an solid album. "Wormhole" is a very groovy and funky track and reminds me of M-Run. The melody in the climax at 5:29 is very cool, but the length of the climax is to short. The remix of "Microdive" is fantastic and the best track of the album. Its more a rework than a remix, but it takes the best part of the original and makes it longer and more intense. I mean the build up from 4:56 to 6:26. Pure energy. "Gravitational Isolation" has a really high energy flow, what comes from the good combination of bassline and kick. The synth with the flanger-effect at 1:40 is for me a breeze to chessy. But the upcoming melody at 3:00 is great, very euphoric. I love it. :)  The melody reminds of "One Love" by Electric Universe. Both tracks has the same tonic keynote and work perfect together in a DJ-mix. ;)

    MFG ‎– Pure Energy

    Label: Suntrip Records ‎– SUNCD59

1 New Kind Of World Tour Intro
    2 Why (Demo Version)
    3 Dark Horizon
    4 Pure Energy
    5 Hypnotized (Original Version)
6 Sanctification Of The Moon (Maya Moon Full Version)
7 New Kind Of World (Live Edit)
    8 Inspiration
    9 Desert Sun (Original Version)
10 Have A Nice Day (Ambient Mix)

Really good work by MFG. I will write only something to my three favorite tracks.
    This are:

    Dark Horizon
The track has a high energy fast feeling. The melody @3:05 is amazing and give the track a dreamy emotional touch! Following by a swirling sixteenth part arpeggiator, which storm over the dancefloor... :-)

    Pure Energy
The start of the track is more trancey until the break. There came a keychange and the track become more groovey and has something of EBM. I love this part. Later the track become more trancey again. Very varied. I like it. :-)

New Kind Of World (Live Edit)
This track is a more epic atmosphere. I dont like the high kick drum. The sound of the flute works here very well. In generally nice compostion and progression, which flows in a really great break @5:09. Goose bumps and hands in the air! ;-) With the end of the track i have the feeling i was on a journey. Great storytelling. :-) So i think its the best track on the album.

The rest of the album is also good work. The artwork is cool! So I will give 7,5 out of 10 points! :-)
