  1. never did a hippy drumcircle, but i did work as soundtechnician for a south korean show on tour in Europe called "dulsori binari". Which is all about drums, big drum, small drum, all sizes and shapes...so i´m pretty experienced when it comes to mic´ing drums. Give each drum a seperate mic, i like the SM57 for Djembe´s, dont point the mic towards the center, position it on a stand next to the djembe and aim for the border of the drum, there the soundwaves roll off. Place it as close as possible (yet min 2cm) so you dont have to give the mic too much gain and to prevent reverb and harmonic effects if you are playing indoor. Second thing you can try is placing an Sm91 in the center of the drumcircle, the SM91 is a perfect allround mic, one of my favs actually, and placing this one in the center ( very subtle mixed in, almost not hearable) will make the instruments sound less isolated from each other, it can give a nice ambient feeling. Third thing is taking a second SM91 and placing this inside the bassdrum, so in the bass you take the highs by using an SM57 at the side of the instrument, and the lows by placing a mic inside it in the back. This setup would be my perfect playground to start compressing, sidechaining and EQing on my girlfr....i mean mixing desk... fourth thing you should try is just experiment alot. EQ: only pull frequencies, dont push anything, search between the range of 200-600 Hz, and a lowcut to prevent unnecessary harmonies and feedback if you re playing it live on speakers.
  2. Is there an official fanclub? i´d like to sign up!
  3. There is something very poetic about the way you wrote that...
  4. I suggest a good ol´fashioned fistfight, mano a mano. That will solve it... last man standing gets my appreciation.
  5. Its an ok track but somehow the overall concept feels too obvious and minimalistic to me. I like this kind of psy rock more
  6. I love this EP, Its my fav in my collection!!! thanks for reminding me to listen to it....NOW, hehe
  7. Always really liked Sun project, i think my first psy CD was SUN project. And ive seen them 3 times live, that drummer is crazy! I dont understand how he can keep up with that tempo... I really respect artists that bring goa trance in a live band, this is something very unique in goatrance yet some of the best names in goa are bands: juno reactor SUN project Dark soho The experience of a live performance is something completely different than a preproduced liveset. There is a stronger connection between artist & public.

  9. you re right, i would be suprised if you cared, just wanted to share my experiences. I dont really care too if you play CDs. hehe
  10. just percussion samples, if you want to check it out in fruity here is a zip with samples and project, external VSTs used: nexus & edirol orchetral clicky to download
  11. oh my god!!! thank you :posford: :posford: :posford: That will be very usefull. You have any more of these kind of diagrams???
  12. Made in fruityfloops on a bored moment: Aquanomaly - blue electric storm play download It resonates with a painting i made in the same period, also called blue electric storm:
  13. Thank you, it can go on my psynews wall of "weird quotes"-fame. Id like to collect my prize now! seriously, you should come and hang around with me for a week, ill show you every weak spot of the CD. a small example(true story, very annoying): imagine you have to play 20 tracks of around 15 sec in a period of 3 hours. IN this period is a gap of 35 minutes between 2 tracks. Any CD-player has a moment where the pauzed CD goes to sleep modus, this is mostly 10, 20 or 30 minutes. It cant be longer cause, a longer pause than 30 minutes can damage the gear or CD(and im talking about DENON players here), sleep modus cant be switched off. So because the limitations of the technology youll have to remember to open & close the CDplayer in the 35 minute gap, otherwise the CD player will go to sleep modus a few minutes before you have to play the track. And imagine you forget this and play the track while the player is in sleepmodus, it takes about 3 to 5 sec to start up the engine, find the right cluster and play, those are looooong seconds. sorry, Exit CD, the sooner the better... From a personal point of view i dont think the CD will vanish soon, its very compatible with alot of other technologies, as long as there will be DVDplayers that are compatible to play and write CDs it will stay on the market. But if you put all the different formats next to each other the only thing i can see in CDs is good marketing. At the moment a cheap selfsustaining marketing cause of the emotional connection alot of people have with it. I dont think in replacing formats anymore, thats so 80s, i think the hardware will just become multifuntional, how hard is it to transform all pro & DJ gear into something with a USB port. And everybody with a computer can allready play it. I will buy compactsticks, at least one, pink floyd - dark side of the moon, hehe, i want to check out each format with this music, even if the format is doomed to vanish.
  14. From a professional point of view the CD is the work of the devil. Its vulnerable, it needs a rotating engine that uses alot of power and is vulnerable too, the player has a response time, it doesnt play directly, once a CD is broken its just garbage, very annoying and polluting garbage by the way. And a USbstick plays the moment you plug it, no response time...at all , no rotating engines, less power usage. You can put extras on the stick, its very easy to back up, its compatible with anything that has a usb port. The USB sticks simply have alot more endurability, flexibility and reliability.
  15. hehe, give me 5 minutes and a lighter and ill show you how inerasable your CDs are. remember? I bought one this week, Pink ployd - dark side of the moon on SACD, costed 18 euro, it plays a different soundquality depending on which player you use. So it is backwardscompatible with all CD players, but off course it sounds best on an SACD player, but i dont have one, haha.

I made some new stuff: check it out!
  17. +1 :posford: good choice check out this video: link i hpoe this link works, otherwise i will upload it on youtube, but im to lazy to do it now, its on facebook and all videos are set as "friends only"... i made it last week after soundcheck, some actor beatboxing and me playing around with FX dualpitch, delays and symphonics from the LS9, its recorded with a crappy digital camera so the real experience is a bit lost on this video. A few days ago we did the same but we linked in a Kaoss pad 3 on the mic input, that was absolutely insane. I want to try an electric guitar with a build in kaoss pad, now thats crazy... hehe human voice+sennheisser SK50 (or sennheiser handheld)+ kaosspad 3 + yamaha LS9 oooohhhh, i feel like clapping my hands and jump around like a little kid when i think about it, hehe ...spaced out...
  18. Any Yamaha digital mixing console! its not really an instrument but still, a digital mixer is an 'all in one' pack The build in FX are completely spaced out, the EQ and dynamics are superb. You can create a network link with a computer and then use the mixing desk as a controller for cubase or protools, works fine. its soooo much fun
  19. Pink Floyd - shine on you crazy diamond, live version and then i fall asleep while the rest of pink floyd - pulse plays I can't listen to anything else anymore, its fucked up hehe, really i'm slighty going insane, but on a playfull way Im on tour with a show called glenn miller: moonlight serenade at the moment and all i do is tweaking buttons on an LS9 digital mixing desk and travelling from city to city. It changed my perception of music drastically... I sometimes try to listen to goatrance or psytrance but then i just scratch the back of my head and frown a few times, 30 sec later i put in pink floyd again... I tried other electronica and rock music and all i can do is yawn, i never should have bought that pink floyd CD damnit!!!! Always the same fucking CD, im starting to see musical patterns and harmonic structures everywhere in life and nature.... oh and i have some good memories on pink floyd music too, last tour i wasnt alone listening to it before i fell asleep hehe,.....mmmhhh what has life changed the last few months....too much light
  20. NHJO is my hero! That interview was classic! haha Brings a refreshing light on psymusic imo, taking the music a little bit less serious and crazyness more playfull. GO NHJO!
  21. pink floyd - pulse tour recordings almost each day mmmhhh i think i like pink floyd......a little bit too much
  22. wauw, thanks man, .....2 years later....
  23. I don't think anybody on this forum is smart enough to hack a website. And if it would be hacked by a member it would be easy to spot him between all the bobo's. Just talk about ICT and computer technics and you know the possible hackers: just one i can think of atm: acido But he didn't do it cause he fixed it....Why would you infect something and then spend a night trying to fix it. that would be stupid. I also think it was a bot that hacked psynews, cause it's a trend lately. The last 2 weeks were really "spammy" on a global scale. It was not an attack to psynews but the forum software we are using. But i guess here there is a little paranoia from previous hack attempts and crazy members. completely understandable. so my conclusion: bot attacks forum, nemo contacts Mars, Mars thinks it's the spammers again, but this time it's spammerbot, still off topic gets closed. We just got our asses pwned by a bot gentlemen....
  24. check psygarden.be, there is alot of deco on it. Imo, it's the most complete (psy) art gallery on the net psygarden.be
