  1. So I was recommended this new Goatrance podcast, perhaps created by the Destination Goa team? Not sure. Maybe someone here has more info? Anyways gonna take a listen, always nice with some Goatrance focused content. Two episodes so far, with Cosmosis. In the second part he discusses his new collaboration with Filteria: https://app.springcast.fm/podcast/destination-goatrance OVER DESTINATION GOATRANCE "A Podcast for lovers of Goa Trance. We are bringing in-depth interviews with artists, label people and organizers from the golden age of the 90’s to the modern era, collecting stories of legendary parties, inspirational psychedelic experiences and all the tricks of creating the magical tunes we love. You want to know about the origins of psychedelic festival culture? How was your favorite album recorded? The secret sauce of the biggest dancefloor hits? We are here to ask the movers and shakers of the scene to find out. The two hosts of the show are both avid collectors and passionate fans of the original Goa sound. Psymon Peter has been behind the decks as a DJ for 2 decades and Tibes has made his mark on the scene as an organizer. In each episode they bring you a selection of the most relevant tunes from the best artists in the genre and share why those tracks are so special. Join in for a journey through space, time and sound!"
  2. @Jotinha You are doing a great thing for the forum, paid or not. I for one find it refreshing to see a lot of new releases this way. The way I see it, your contribution can draw some new users or lurkers here to get some info on new releases/events. And besides that I think it's only good if this forum is still somehow deemed relevant, for paid or unpaid participation. Either way it benefits the forum one way or another. And when I've been reflecting at times on what this forum would need to be re-ignited, I have always thought about the idea of the forum having a front page, like a Psynews blog, with curated daily updates/videos/festival news/interviews etc. Something in the vein of what Ektoplazm had back in the day. Which nowadays obviously could be done by integrating some AI-service with RSS feeds etc or paid promotion from labels. So yeah this is not far from such an idea of a more regular flow of updates. Cheers!
  3. Ah sorry, the first video was only mobile cam of the intro, the last was entire track(mp3) with leads etc, the intro only had like what you could call "pad leads/hooks" I played around and changed the kick drum today from a regular goa kick to a more Mystica/Shiva Shidapu/Nitzhonot one. Huge kick. So gonna need some tweaking to re-adjust the levels around it. I'll upload the mp3 when the mix is more final, it sounded better in the headphones than on the iphone. So back to the drawing board.
  4. I mean this video I link i would be categorized as an interview per se, but it's Psytrance related atleast and funny, more funny then the video in the original post, which I just find to be a regular normal interview. Mars and Filteria seem down to earth and, and yeah nice to see artists and label owners speak some about their art/passion. Interviewing people and beeing interviewed is not easy either, you know shyness is a thing right. I would love to see more interviews, not for some cringe, but to get some insights. If they are funny, that could be a plus. A laugh is always nice, as long as it's with the glimpse in the eye. This video is hilarious though, Duvdev is very funny I think. He seems to have a lot of hyperactive energy. (ADHD)? The drunk fan?/dude in the video sure is a bit cringey right?
  5. Yeah neat when artists post their album on youtube as well, nice album I agree! Kinda crazy to think back to when the original albums were released. I had The Gathering and Classical Mushroom on my Mini Disc, and Luminus, Yahel and Eyal Barkan. So those were on repeat, 24/7. Imagine if one back then would've had the possibility to glimpse into the future, and listen to these remakes. How epic wouldn't that have been? Now we are here around 24 years later, still alive and kicking. The Mini Disc is dead tho.. Also I have some nice memories from when I did some mushrooms for the first time, and listened to Classical Mushroom. It was perfect, the album artwork looked very cool as well, the oily effect on the Mushroom textures on the artwork gave like an holographic effect in that state of mind. And yeah the music obviously sounded very alien and 3D-holographic as well, as if flowing flowing out from the speakers. Btw would be cool if Hallucinogen re-imagined his two classical albums as well!
  6. @acid beingPlaying around some with NitzhoGoa, not final just headphones mix, tried to make a "Sheybaish" type acid lead in the beginning. I used Dune3 for the leads and Spire + AudioRealism Bassline.
  7. Yeah Simon seem like a nice guy. And about him getting a bit tired of his old tunes, if one had to play those tracks live for so many years. I imagine I would've been bored as well after a while. Still I can't help thinking sometimes, what if he had taken another path? And would've continued with the twisted uptempo Psy and developed it even further, in some other weird direction. Don't get me wrong I love Shpongle, Younger Brother etc. But yeah fav stuff is his Hallucinogen/Beast/Anubis/Infinity Project etc and his work with Slinky Wizard. Anyways his legacy is all over Psytrance. So in that sense his ideas continue to inspire and evolve through other peoples interpretations/lenses. Those early pillars of the movement created like somekind of archetypal models for the Goa sound I suppose. I'm still waiting for some of the classics to be surpassed, or atleast to be mindblown like that again. Hopefully one day!
  8. Thanks! Btw killer lineup for your upcoming event in Denmark. 😊 👍🏻
  9. Yeah indeed! Sheyba had a very distinct sound! Dreamy and mysterious for sure. Always an adventure for the imagination, when one is in the right mind frame. I'll try to see how close I can get to something Sheyba-like with the Jupiter plugin just for fun. It's a nice little challenge, and hopefully learn something new in the process!
  10. I love this track! Yeah it can be difficult to get a good isolated piece of a track. Also can be very difficult for example with Jupiter-8 since it has X-Mod which can shape the waveform quite a lot. And also the OSC waveform mixer on the SH-101 etc. Anyways I sometimes when I play around, I'm often getting a "oh that sounds a lot like Sheyba leads" when playing with simple oriental melodies on those abovementioned plugin emulations. And also when just using an oriental midi melody to audiorealism bassline, instead of using its internal sequencer. The simplicity of that and other Roland filters nails the sound IMO. With some lush reverb.
  11. Can you link which track you're referring to? If I remember correctly from some interview Sheyba used Jupiter-8, SH-101 and TB-303 a lot for leads and stuff. Probably Juno-106 too, not sure. But I wouldn't exclude the Alpha Juno from the equation either. Do you mean like the lead in Ganesh for example?
  12. I'm gonna take a listen since I'm very much into Goa Trance. For nice Goa delays in Logic, I would recommend that you get Native Instruments Replika XT: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/effects/replika-xt/ This is one is really really good if you wanna get those Alesis Quadraverb type ping pong delays which were, and are still very much an essential aspect of the Goa sound. You can fine-tune it by importing for example any track from Hallucinogen or Astral Projection from that era into logic and listen to how long their delays are and how much stereo spread they have. As for your track, what is the target sound you're aiming for style-wise? Any particular slant? For reverbs, you can use Logics own ones, they are not bad. But if you can, preferably Valhalla Reverbs. Their delays are also God-tier for Goa. I'm working on a very old schoolish sounding Goa Trance tune myself now, I could show a sample later if you want. For scales if you want a really nice one that is tried and tested and which isn't the Pleiadian one. It's more what Astral Projection used. Try this: in the key of E.(E-F-G#-A-B-C-D) Transpose to whatever key you like, but I recommend staying in E for 145 BPM. This scale is a major one, so it's very glorious/victorious. Works very well for Nitzho-Goa/Uplifting, and euphoric Goa in general. However you can have a dark atmosphere and it will still work. Listen to Astral Projection-Time Began With The Universe for example of how this scale sounds in action. If you want a really Dark Goa Trance scale try this one in Em: (E-F#-G-A#-B-C#-D) Which is dark and still keeps the oriental ornamentation., it's a minor scale.
  13. Very good selection of classical Goa indeed, and congrats on the rare goodies!
  14. Funny stuff, takes me back in time. This album sure had some mysterious aura around it. The backstory for why it wasn't released properly in the 90s would've made some nice background story for the remastered album booklet I think. Like they did with the Pleiadian I.F.O remaster, which has some background story regarding the Live tracks. Where it is stated that some DJ or party organizer had recorded some of their live-set unauthorized or something. So one has to assume, some similar scenario of how the Crop Circles mini disc, that Mars encountered in 1999 came into existence. Maybe a label or DJ leaked it, or yeah other Goa artists. Could it be that part of the reason for why it wasn't released properly in the 90s, was due the fact that it got leaked back then? Or was it perhaps simply because Crop Circles as a group split? Anyhow it became somekind of viral Goa underground athem. Which is usually a good sign for unreleased music. Not that I know of any other unreleased Goa albums like this. One could always hope that there is some scrapped Hallucinogen album or similar waiting to be discovered. Buy yeah not too likely... This was the holy Goa grail for sure.
  15. Oh nice thanks! Just when one thinks one has heard it all. There's always that one thing on the horizon waiting to be discovered! And Merry X-mas ideed brethren and sistren of Psynews.
  16. Aha nice! I had no idea it had been added to that classic EP as a re-release. Thanks for the heads up! https://www.discogs.com/release/7515173-Crop-Circles-Lunar-Civilization-EP So this was digital only then I suppose? Weird with the 192kbps bitrate only? Was it somekind of soundcloud only promo thingy? Imagine the mastering effort, for a target of streaming/mp3 only. Oh well, The mini-disc era wasn't to advanced either after all. And we were happy in those days too.
  17. Dream Theater remake is the second track to be revealed, sounds really good. Takes me back in time for sure. I like that they even used the classical old snare drum they used in that era. Was the original ever released officially on CD/Vinyl? I remember listening to it and other unreleased tracks like Gamma Goblins remix back in early 2000's or perhaps earlier. And other tracks which were available as mp3 downloads on the Infected website. I don't remember when their website went online first time, time flies by.
  18. You who seem knowledgeable on the Crop Circles subject, any info on the track Ghost Circles? All I can find is a deleted page on the DAT website, via google. Was it something planned that never materialized? Or was it released on a digital EP which is no longer available? Maybe I'm blind and it's on Discogs, but I can't find anything about it. And yeah searching on youtube for anything with Crop Circles or Pleiadians get's a lot of non-music related noise. lol
