  1. Daym cool. 😎 Nice detective work if true. So that would place it closely in time between the Amen album from 2002 and Ten from 2004, if correctly attributed to AP. And depending of course on when it was actually produced. The Skarma live set posted above, sounded a bit closer to Omegahertz stylewise than AP. So I assumed that if Skarma made the track in question, that he had different styles. Could it be that the track if made by AP wasn't mastered? Due to beeing unreleased. And thus perhaps lacking some of the energy/big sound one has come to associate with them? Even so I love these blind listening challenges! Our pre-conceived notions often gets us. Goa Trance Placebo phenomena. If AP has more unreleased tracks I wouldn't mind an album with old stuff.
  2. Yeah just throwing some ideas around. Maybe there's still hope left. Or maybe Psynews is destined to become like Atlantis? I hope people will have some fond memories of this place when it's no more. Oh well the world at large will probably soon be a gigantic Atlantis... Yeah I definitely think your mastering would be of great service. I could do some artwork in Midjourney. My train of thought went something like this: Seeing that people are indeed still posting tracks in the promo section. I thought it a good idea to incentivize or create some challenge that could become a venue of inspiration. I always think challenges can draw out some extra motivational effort from people, when it comes to art. And I also think it would be fun! You know an interesting theme. Or like the above mentioned compilation, which utilized different themes per "CD". I.E, dark vs light, morning vs night, slow vs fast etc etc. The typical Goa/Psy staples by now. And I also reasoned along the lines, what could the legacy of this forum be? In what ways could the soul of Psynews continue to flame on, if indeed forums definitely becomes obsolete. And Soundcloud is one platform which atleast for now, has somekind of combined social focal point on music, for listeners and producers alike. Even if it too of course isn't immune to the ever spinning wheel of time. It could perhaps be Psynews swan song. If so, why not go out with a bang. So that there's something echoing of this place, in the Halls of Amnesia in the future.
  3. What if Psynews would create its own Soundcloud account? I think it would be fun, if we arrange something in the music production section. So that everyone who wants could submit a track and a digital community compilation of sorts could be created on Soundcloud. "A Taste of Psynews Sampler" or something to that effect, "Psynews Compilation Promo" Just an idea, and then perhaps put a link to it on the bottom of the forum or in the top banner. The idea came when I listened to a very nice old compilation which I think was a forum effort: https://www.discogs.com/release/6654748-Various-Midnight-Garden-vs-Abstract-Garden Obviously Psynews has done similar things in the past with a real CD press if I remember correctly. Soundcloud just seems so effortless for the task from what I can see. The tracks could be selected based on a forum user poll. In the spirit of a community project. So that everyone who would contribute would do their best. The only two things I think would need some external effort besides the Souncloud platform, would be mastering and some artwork.
  4. @DoktorGVery nice track indeed, certainly when it comes to the quite massive catalogues of all these old maestros, the task at hand can be quite daunting. As it pertains to narrowing down one singular track to rule them all.
  5. I forgot an important part of the patches namely the mod routing and LFO-section, the pitch fine in particular to give it a bit of an unstable crying quality: The LFO to filter obviously just for manual automation, and not necessary for the patch itself. Mod-Matrix: LFO-section:
  6. I can't say I've heard any forest psy with reggae yet, is it a new sub-genre? That is surely an unexpected blend. Forest psy beeing something very nordic and dark/cold. Reggae the total opposite which is probably the point. Only reggae infused reggae I've heard so far I think is Infected Mushroom's collabs with Israeli or American reggae artists,(Matisyahu and Hatikva 6).
  7. Hmm there are so many that I find it difficult to narrow it down. But surely Gamma Goblins pt-2 is up there. I think that track was very innovative and playful. Showing that the genre could be so much more than just the oriental scales which by then had become quite stagnant I suppose. It's a dark yet funny mushroomy kind of track. Atleast that's my interpretation of it. Anyone listened yet to the newly released remaster yet? I will take a listen this week.
  8. This one? Don't mind the clicky envelope. I'm not sure what synth the CL Highpass is based on, but it's very similar to the MS-20 HP or a bit like the Nord Lead perhaps, very squidgy. LD Booh!
  9. Is it one of these two leads you mean? MS-20 Dune Retrologue sounds like a fun challenge, keep us updated on the results. I'm playing around with Malström in Reason creating some dark voice synths.
  10. Sure no probs gonna boot up Logic tonight and take a print. Btw speaking of MS-20 patches, one sound in particular I'm researching is a sound in Neuro Fluro Sponge. Which I think is MS-20, I could be wrong tho. But since the MS-20 patch bay gives quite a variety to the near infinite possibilities for preset variation. I might never find out exactly how Simon had his MS-20 patched at that particular moment in time. The sound in question is somekind of noise/LFO pitch modulation, sounding almost like crying "alien dolphins" or something to that effect. The closest I've gotten is with some routing of the pink noise. If you listen to the track in question you'll understand what sound I'm referring to. I've had no luck dialing in something similar on the ARP-2600 plugin so I think the MS-20 is the one, since I've managed to coax out something vaguely similar.
  11. @siliconix @astralprojection Thanks!, yes it might be the same key as MFG indeed, in the key of D, very common key I think for old school goa. I used the same key and BPM as Snakey Shaker 142bpm. The snare is MS-20, I think Simon did something like that in the track LSD. One could animate it as well with some filter or lfo/envelope at certain intervals as well to make it a bit more interesting perhaps. The bassline is TAL-101, the leads MS-20 and Dune3. In Dune3 I've have tried to replicate the MS-20 HP Filter, as it has a bit clearer sound/cleaner OSC than the MS-20 plugin by Arturia atleast. The real thing probably is the best anyways. I will continue mixing on it in my cousins studio when time permits that. The kick I think you might've liked better perhaps how it sounded at first, it sounded more like a Crop Circles kick, but I distorted it to make it a bit bigger like the kick in Space Pussy. I can show how it sounds undistorted later. The track at first was actually more Crop Circles in tone, it had more cosmic birdlike background FX. And overall a more mysterious/dense atmosphere. Thanks for listening!
  12. Nice selection, keep us updated when the Hallucinogen goodies arrive. 👍
  13. New track preview in first post. Work in progress inspired by Hallucinogen and Psychaos, I tried to recreate some of the classical sounds, SH-101, MS-20, and the specifics of Hallucinogens and Psychaos phaser leads/pads etc.
  14. Work in progress inspired by Hallucinogen and Psychaos, I tried to recreate some of the classical sounds, SH-101, MS-20, and the old school leads/pads/FX etc.
  15. Heh that's a cool track name and nice track, would've made a perfect album name for the Crop Circles project.
  16. There are many tracks/artists I think that could sound cool with the Etnica touch. Maybe UX, in general I would've loved some unexpected VS/collabs/remixes. Would be interesting as well to hear them re-interpret their old albums. They've made quite a few new remixes I imagine of their older tracks, I don't have total overview of their entire output. Maybe they did something to this effect already, gotta do some discogs research again someday. I'm just too lazy lately, stuck in 1000000 books.
  17. I love the royal/knight type beat in this one. 😎
  18. Yeah hmm I just can't remember the names anymore, only remember this one:
  19. For sure it's lovely! So euphoric, I miss the CD singles era, there were always so cool and ambitious remixes. The labels really mixed and matched different unexpected artists for that purpose a lot. Like the Miranda, Antiloop and Savastano remixes as well. https://www.discogs.com/master/57807-Miranda-Mars-Needs-Women Many in that era seems to have made their living doing pretty much remixes full-time.
  20. For sure I agree 100% I'd say the only part I feel is somewhat useful for me personally is the messenger part. But yeah with so many apps these days that do the exact same thing, it's not essential by any means for that purpose either. When Facebook messenger was new once upon a time, then it was quite a step up from the likes of MSN Messenger and whatever it was people used back then. I can't even remember all the apps/services. ICQ, MIRQ, Skype are those I remember most. But for sure as you pointed out, for people who use Facebook as a platform for their business/labels etc, that is probably were Facebook shines.
  21. Nice trivia! I had no idea it was a remix. I always assumed it had something to do with the druid Miraculix, which could be viewed as a kind of Shaman or Magus indeed.
