no in this case theres no octave jumps. just straight Kbbb.  Yeah the kick is very basic

Gotcha, it's the slightly higher BPM ranges that fits this type of style/Bass pattern as well. I will do some testing of different bass/kicks and BPM/key ranges.

And I suspect they make the decay/envelope on the bass shorter for a snappy feel?

Btw do you know how this effect is achieved:

On her voice there is what sounds like reverse reverbs. I would love such an effect on a voice sample for transition, I've made something slightly similar with just reversing a sample adding reverb to it and then reversing back to original playback direction or something like that. But this effect in the Haunted Mansion movie sounds way cooler, maybe some Eventide or Lexicon preset? There are some similar ones in the Overloud Breverb Lexicon emulation.

Another old school FX experiment I'm playing around with is the water sample through Eventide style reverbs in Gamma Goblins pt2. I've come quite close I'll show you later.

I, uhhhh, just came across this on youtube (for whatever that is worth) and uhhh... this is pretty damn good. I remember Morphic Resonance and I remember he had some sort of notion about things that I understood. Oh well... I feel like a borg or something from time to time, but you know, there are some things that happen in this world that make me smile, and this album is it.

Are you sure his name is not Cristiano Ronaldo? I am a dumb American who uhhhh............. didn't vote for Trump but you know, I feel the nuclear radiation soaking in every day and I think I need to make something now. I think I spoke too much. Bye.

😄 Kinda OT but you're subtle description of the nuclear radiation in USA, conjured up some post-apocalyptic Fallout 4 imagery in my mind. Soon we'll be walking AI borg mutant zombies. lol

*Ontopic I haven't heard this album, maybe I should give it a digital spin. I like the artwork, pretty cool. I'm not too familiar with his output so I have no solid idea of what to expect. Is it dark ala UX, or MFG or Crop Circles? Or something entirely different? Because I know that Morphic Resonance did some Pleiadians or Crop Circles remixes on DAT Records in the past. So that's the association I make.

    maybe something like

Nice, yeah that's definitely a cool vibe. So for these type of basslines they're not octave jumping I suppose? (listening on phone speaker so kinda hard to tell). Since I can't hear subs on it. Or is it that they do octave jumps but just a tad bit lower as compared to let's say goa?

The kick in the provided link should be no problemos. There are several like that in the psy folder. Or yeah Kick2 sounds like that pretty much out of the gate too.

yeah AI in terms of graphic stuff is really a bummer. you can just type in what you want and it will create it. i imagine it killed lots of indie artists with that one :(

the casper thing sounded very nice except bassline and kick. replace that with a darker kick and a machinegun bassline and it would sound really good i think. love all that hallucinogen vibes. but kick and bassline do not fit with it, imho.

Could try that, do you mean like old Psykovski kinda bass? Link some  song with that type of bassline/kick. And I'll check it out. ^^

I'll dig around in the psy kicks library for something new, or maybe on kick2.

    Sounds promising.

I don't remember about my profile picture, I didn't draw the lines myself, probably found a decent template and then worked on that.

But that's nothing compared to your designs they are always looking awesome... Hope you're selling your services cause you should. Also you sound a bit manic 🫠

Yes haha I began drinking coffee yesterday after a two month decaf. Needless to say the coffee has that effect on my hyper-active brain. :D

Let me know when you've tried out the Arturia Acid V. Interested to see what you think about it, it had some pretty cool factory presets to get an idea of the possibilities. It even had one preset witch might be a Goa inspired one named: Transwave.

As for the Photoshop/AI stuff, it's only a hobby of mine. I studied a lot of graphics design, animation, and photo related subjects. Things are changing so rapidly right now in that field, that I'm not even sure were the business side of it is heading. With the ample opportunities the AI-field in particular has opened for everyone to create their own stuff instead of paying some person for graphics design/photo studio. Although the quality is obviously all over the place. Back in the day I used to do posters for Psy/Goa parties. Now a days I'm not connected to the scene as I used to be. :)

Oh yes now we're talking! How could I forget all the great Danish Iboga stuff. Refeer Decree/Oryx is still mindblowing. Gonna dig into those I don't recognize since before thanks!

    Beat Bizarre as well!

Does anyone know if Bitmonx is from Denmark? Sascha Haske sounds kinda german?

Yep. But definitely every sound except drums and fx. Arturia acid looks cool, hope there's a demo.

7 days time limit? 4 min track length?

Sure always funny with some limits to work within.

Here are two overviews, one from ADSR and another from Arturia, really nice effect section, and distortion algos (especially the Germanium, Tape, Transistor, Diode and Tube distortion's). Also I really like the GUI it's big and very clearly laid out, it has virtual "rotary LED-encoders" ala Nord Lead 3, the mod section really makes it stand out too

    Elysium

    Orion

Ah I forgot Orion! As for Elysium I was thinking of that actually but somehow mixed Elysium up with the related Sheyba project. 😃 But surely there must be more than these? Anyone from Denmark here? Reveal the secrets. ;) I do remember that there was A LOT of great Danish Goa on mp3.com back in the days. So there should definitely be some lesser known gems out there.

  9. So a friend asked me what some of the essential Danish Goa/Psy artists/projects are/were.

The only ones I knew by memory was with regards to the old school Goa side:

    Kox Box/Psychopod

    Psygone

    Sheyba

    Psylent Buddhi

    Color Box

    The Overlords

What are some other lesser known or essential Goa and Psy gems from Denmark?

In case anyone sitting on fence about hallucinogen reissue, if any of you have first shpongle reissue???? Soundwise better than that, may just be best have ever heard

Sounds promising, I got the digital version as a gift haven't been able to listen to it yet. Would've loved to hear it on vinyl.

I hope they kept the dynamics of the originals, while adding some clarity and perhaps enhancing the bass if needed on some tracks. My dream vision for a remaster would be if it could make stellar music like Hallucinogen's even more 3D. Since this music is so good for headphone adventures. :D

And if it would be possible to zoom in so more texture details than previously could be accessed. Like a microscope zoom.

  11. I asked chatgbt bro what the sexy secrets are of the akashic kama sutra library:

"In realms where circuits hum and neon gleams,
Techno Viking embarked on epic dreams.
To Akashic Kama Sutra, he set his course,
In a world where bytes and passions would endorse.

Through data streams and digital domain,
He danced with ones and zeros, never waned.
In pixelated pages of the Kama Sutra's lore,
He sought knowledge, desires, and so much more.

With binary beats, he tamed the cosmic flow,
Unlocking secrets only data souls could know.
In the Akashic library, where wisdom thrived,
He danced through realms where technology and love contrived.

From firewalls to tantric fire's embrace,
Techno Viking found his sacred space.
In this electric voyage, he'd transcend,
Blending ancient wisdom with a techno blend.

So, he danced through circuits, both wild and free,
In the Akashic Kama Sutra's digital sea.
For Techno Viking, the journey was sublime,
As he merged ancient texts with the modern rhyme.

    Halls of Amnesia

My name is Nyx. I’ve been a planetary anthropologist for 3000 of my 5023 years. My most puzzling and psychedelic assignment without doubt was being posted to planet Earth in the Solar System to report on the discovery of a miraculously preserved temple in the jungle of a coastal region of what was called India, a place called Goa. Earth had been through various catastrophes, including a radiation disaster, runaway desertification and warming, followed by four ice ages and a meteor strike since the builders of the temple had lived. There were few remnants of these builders, a bipedal simian species who called themselves "humans". Nevertheless, the state of preservation of the temple was remarkable; by some twist of fate the crenelated ceiling composed of mysterious twirling shapes and fractal patterns of inscrutable esoteric design had survived the vicissitudes of disasters. The letters A-M-N-E-S-I-A were inscribed over the lintel of the entrance. Even more remarkably, under a thick beard of dust I found this ancient and crude yet ingenious technology, which via reverse engineering I managed to reanimate. I presented the findings to the Pangalactic Council and the rest is a matter of public record: the 7 “songs” found on this gnomic yet extremely exciting and energising recording were leaked and became a transgalactic hit, which as you know is a vanishingly rare event, ushering in an unprecedented era of peace, love, and decadence. These 7 songs are gathered together in the recording known as the Halls of Amnesia.

I asked ChatGPT to re-arrange it utilizing Iambic Tetrameter verse metre:

In times of old, when years were vast,
    Nyx, planetary sage unsurpassed,
    Three millennia plus two-score,
A cosmic scholar's wisdom to explore.

Her task, to Earth her gaze did steer,
To lands where mystery did appear,
In solar's grasp, a temple lay,
In jungle's heart, where coast meets bay.

India's name, in tales of old,
A place called Goa, its story told,
    Through catastrophes Earth had strayed,
    Radiation's touch, its warmth decayed.

    Ice ages four, desert's sweep,
    Meteor's strike, in cycles deep,
Yet 'midst this strife, a temple stood,
Preserved by fate, in Earthly hood.

    Within, a ceiling, crenelated high,
    Shapes twirling, fractals that belie,
    Designs of old, esoteric, grand,
Survived the ages, Earth's shifting sand.

Inscribed above, a word did glow,
    A-M-N-E-S-I-A, a cryptic flow,
    Entrance's lintel bore this script,
In language lost, its meaning crypt.

    Dust-clad beard, an ancient tech,
    Ingenious, crude, a hidden speck,
    Reverse engineered, Nyx unveiled,
The past's secrets, a life exhaled.

Before the Council, her findings laid,
    A record etched, history's cascade,
Transgalactic hit, those notes did soar,
    Seven songs, a timeless lore.

Halls of Amnesia, the recording's name,
Gnomic and exciting, a new world's flame,
Peace, love, decadence, they would ignite,
An era born, in cosmic light.

hmm. i guess if we are not trying to take it seriously we should just give up before we start : p

My dreamteam for a compilation: Psynina doing a duet with Duvdev on the Autoune mic. And NHJO and Infected Erez shredding it on the keyboards.

On a serious note, it would be fun with a real compilation. However how many active users could we even bring to the project? It's probably dead on arrival. :D

We should open a new forum called Psy X-Factor, doing auditions for fame-seeking narcissists. I think people have deep-seated need for new deities, and we could cater to that need discovering new gods to be worshipped at the DJ altar.

  14. The Secret Library of NHJO. Btw were is he? Our guiding light, I miss the days when he posted his epic webcam  virtuoso keyboard anthems. Those were the days, and when PsychedelicSuperbeast used to create some funny weird vibes here. 😄

Everybody retired from the Psynews scene, they got burned out.

yes, dusty old relics ala Stargate seems appropriate. the tracknames could be something like

Library of Alexandria - Book 3: Tome of ....

or Halls of Akashic Records - Item 2: Sphere/Stone/Gem of ....

or something similar. i mean, since we're going for cheese why not 😃

    @Parasphere

I am very familiar with the dead space games. Love them. But that thing/cult must have slipped my mind or slipped my playthroughs :)

anyway, something ancient and hidden seems like a cool theme.

The lore for the Unitology cult in the Dead Space games is really cool and well fleshed out. It takes some basic inspirations from Scientology and some other real-life cults/religions. And adds a dark cosmic twist to it. The Unitology cult is centered around Michael Altman and The Black Marker (alien artifact).

Some of the in-game brainwash pertaining to the Unitology cult:

  16. Tomb Raider now that's funny. 😁 Yeah Prometheus I love and Alien Covenant too. Btw on the theme of the decline in the forum activity. I've noticed that many of the labels that used to be a big part of the forum, have ceased to post updates here. I can't blame them though, how many platforms should one post the same basic information anyhow?

I don't know my current mood is kinda let's go with this ship like a Promethean Titantic. Maybe we'll sink to Atlantis and can do some underwater excavations Tomb Raider style with Angelina Jolie. 🤭

On the theme of the Akashic Records, maybe we should channel Edgar Cayce and see what the future of Psynews and Psytrance in general is. Let's just hope there'll be no more dubstep please. 🙏🏼

    @astralprojection

When I restart my Midjourney account we could create a topic here in the offtopic/art section or something or in this same thread just brain storming some art ideas and what not. Maybe some track ideas, I have a couple of different sketches/finalized tracks in different styles. Some dark melodic "spooky" themed psytrance, some dark cosmic goa, and some new agey oriental goa cheese, which I'm not in the mood for right now (rainy late summer/autumn vibes here). And some regular euphoric trance, but that's kinda offtopic anyways.

One idea I have for a compilation is a new age cult vibe, infused with cosmic adoration. For this theme I envision something clean and clear, divine and exalted. Perhaps white base color with gold details. If you've played the Dead Space games and seen the designs for the Unitology cult in that game you'll understand.

Perhaps one side of the compilation could be like that, and the other beeing a more dark sinister journey into some alien hostile dimension.

"Halls of Amnesia" would be a great name...

Hehe yes indeed. I took some liberty in inspiration from the Halls of Amenti. I envisioned all the current Psy-heads enshrined in some temple in the future. Like old relics from the past. Which might not be far from the truth, the genre might become just a digital memory in the future in some big AI-mind.

  18. 17 hours ago, Trolsk said:

The source of the track has been identified. It's from a John Fleming mix, and it's labelled as an Astral Projection track called Structural Schematics (starts at 52.07). A Fleming remix of Mahadeva was released back in 2004 and he's one of the most well known trance djs, so it's not unlikely that he had access to unreleased AP material.

Daym cool. 😎 Nice detective work if true. So that would place it closely in time between the Amen album from 2002 and Ten from 2004, if correctly attributed to AP. And depending of course on when it was actually produced.

The Skarma live set posted above, sounded a bit closer to Omegahertz stylewise than AP. So I assumed that if Skarma made the track in question, that he had different styles.

Could it be that the track if made by AP wasn't mastered? Due to beeing unreleased. And thus perhaps lacking some of the energy/big sound one has come to associate with them? Even so I love these blind listening challenges! Our pre-conceived notions often gets us. Goa Trance Placebo phenomena. ;)

If AP has more unreleased tracks I wouldn't mind an album with old stuff.
