  1. Billy Cosmosis used to be active here I think? Either here or the Isratrance forum, I recall he used to create sounds for the then very popular plugin Rob Papen Albino 3, this was around 2007 or so I think. You should ask Billy Cosmosis if he used the Novation Bass Station, or the MAM MB 33 for the "fake 303" acid lines in Alien Disco I Love those. I think MFG used some of those as well for their acid lines on Overload and Magnetic Activity. I'm messing around some more in Logic I'll post something tonight.
  2. Yes that rings well with what I've heard as well, also if you listen to "Tryptomine Dream" on the Another World album at: 05:22, the lead sound that comes in, sounds just like the lead sound in Spiritual Healing, and thus most likely is a JD-800 Lead. It has that same digital crying aspect to it, a very nasal and almost wavetable sounding quality. Two Etnica tracks, which I don't know what gear was used on them, but that to me also displays some of these digital sounding qualities are: Nice Toys and Floating Universe. It wouldn't surprise me if the JD-800 had something to do with it. But yeah Draeke and Filteria knows for sure. I would love some input here from them.
  3. I'm gonna give it a go this week, the hot temperatures last week made me take a break my poor old computer was cooking lol, would be nice to hear your progress, you can send me a pm if you don't feel like sharing it here yet. The tuning can be a bitch sometimes with these old tracks due to various reasons, I certainly feel you on that one. Sometimes it's a combination of things, for example the scale used plus how they set the tuning of the oscillators, sometimes amplified by unstable osc tuning, and then some external chorus which further adds variation to the timbre can mess with your ears a lot. And when the ears get fatigued, it can often become difficult detecting pitch correctly. Gonna boot up logic now to see wuzzup It sounds promising that you seem to have got the timing and the pitch of the individual notes, have I understood the progress so far correctly? So now it's only the finer details of the actual patch and effect chain that needs some work?
  4. This is not bad at all, and it gives some hope to the notion of their upcoming album... whenever it comes (if it comes someday?) So yeah between this compilation of remixed tracks, the remix of Push - Strange World, and the teasers AP have been sharing on their social media platforms, I'm confident they still got the magic touch. And could deliver a magical new album. +Pros: Somehow they managed to not butcher some classics, and instead added some signature AP flavour, without resorting to some cheaper tricks we've heard others do. -Cons: Yes the mastering could've been better, but at the same time I've heard worse. Perhaps I've listened too much to neo goa, which often lacks proper mastering, so your mileage might vary. So it's not unlistenable by any means, atleast not for me, right now. And I do agree that the overall sound is way more digital/VST-plugin in nature than their classics, which again is kinda expected. But yeah I wouldn't mind hearing what they could come up with by combining the best of their old analogue synthesizers, with the digital clarity of todays DAW's/computers/sound cards/etc. It would/could be the best of both worlds. And as Trance2MoveU so eloquently put it, they've bought themselves a decade more with this release, so 2025? Fingers crossed. I WANT TO BELIEVE! So unless Trump gets re-elected and bans Goa Trance or something we should be good.
  5. Ett tips kan vara att skriva på engelska då det är väldigt få här som kan svenska Translation: A good idea might be to write in english, as there are very few around here who understand the swedish language.
  6. Haha wow this album seems to be some hilarious stuff, I don't listen to full-on but I might make an exception for this. Since it's classical goa tunes which we all love, that have been remixed. I'm mildly amused by the "heresy" that seems to have been taken place here, classics should be left alone I think, unless there are some novel ideas to explore or expand upon. But yeah I think generally that's the issue, since the classics are classics for a reason, they are often difficult to surpass. The description/reviews reminds me of the old fake/parody full-on project someone from this forum created on myspace back in the day. Called Goa Baba or something similar. It was some hilariously lazy stuff :p my main suspect is obviously Pavel. Which featured all the common full-on tropes of the day, pure comedy gold. I'm not sure but was it not Hallucinogen who introduced the idea of changing between time signatures within the tracks, in the psy/goa genre? If so it's quite the irony, that his classic work is butchered here in a genre wherein the changes of the time signature, has become a trope. We've come full circle so to say, if it was Hallucinogen who first pioneered the idea within psy-trance that is?
  7. I only know that on the Mystica singles collection, the Orly's Remix track is from Israel's Psychedelic Trance vol 2, since you can hear the fade-in of the intro to the Nada & DJ Jörg - Viking track. But yeah it's stated clearly for that release that the tracks were sourced from various compilations. "This is a single collection of the released Mystica tracks on various labels and compilations! Many of them are hard to find these days, so we are sure this will make the fans of euphoric typical Israeli goa trance happy! Classic Goa Trax (a sublabel of Suntrip Records) works together with Mystica for this release, so the artist gets her part of this amazing music of the past! :)" And this specific track I believe was never released on any other VA either, besides Israel's Psychedelic Trance Vol-2? A great track btw.
  8. The track sounds really good, very old school vibe. Production sounds fresh as well. Is this the first old school artist out of Israel doing neo goa?
  9. Yes the MC-202 is very cool, particularly for acid lines since it has accent, which the SH-101 lacks. However it needs a mod in order to work better, as it has a weak CPU or flawed design or something that introduces massive lag when controlling it externally if I remember correctly. I love the form factor/portability of it compared to the SH-101.
  10. Ah yes indeed the eventide stuff of course. Regarding recreation of sounds, I can't really help much with Etnica/Pleiadians. As that was never a style I explored, I was always much more into the sounds of AP, MFG, Miranda among others. For Pleiadians/Etnica, Filteria and Morphic Resonance would be your best options, as they did some research into that specific Italian Goa style. And perhaps E-Mantra as well? He was/is a member here too I think. Merr0w I think as well was inspired by that goa style to some extent? Don't know if he was active on this forum. Too bad not many people participate here anymore, as there was a lot of knowledge with regards to goa trance production, among the producers who were members here.
  11. In this video from their studio, which must've been filmed around 1999/2000. They show all the outboard racks as well as the synthesizers/drum machines. Among other things a Nord Rack is visible, the video quality is quite blurry unfortunately. The JD-800 is there of course, and what seems to be an Oberheim Xpander. And the the usual suspects, 101, 303, 909 etc. The outboard gear is the most difficult to discern in the video, but it looks like an Empirical Labs Distressor in the racks. Quite popular for beefing up 909 kicks.
  12. Indeed, ask him he is/was a member here I remember atleast that he was a veeery long time ago. I'm gonna play around some more with recreating some AP sounds tonight, this time I will listen to the actual album at the same time, way easier to get the detune right that way. By playing along to the album. What sounds besides the leads interest you the most? Point me to some track/album/sound The FX as you've allready touched upon was an integral part of their signature sound. The ping pong delay from the Alesis Quadraverb was very popular among the goa trance producers of the golden era, and if my memory serves me right I think Filteria used that one as well. This unit was/is very affordable, and gives a very good spatial 3D sound to the synthesizer sounds run through it when combined with a hall reverb. As can be heard here with Hallucinogen: And here with I Savastano on the TB-303 + SH-101 or the Juno-106. The Alesis Quadraverbs ping pong delays can be reproduced easily on all kinds of delay plugins, particularly on Native Instruments Replika and Replika XT.
  13. I don't really see the point in using such an old and largely obsolete daw as the old emagic logic, unless there would be some old track one was aiming to recover I guess. Todays daws are just light-years ahead of what was possible in the old emagic logic. I mean you can't even use new plugins so I don't really follow One thing I can understand more, is people using old hardware like C64 and Amiga, because those had specific soundchips and stuff, if one is into chiptunes etc. But hey whatever floats your boat I guess I would've purchased an older mac which could atleast run logic pro 9 or logic pro x instead of messing with old emagic logic. This daw has been improved of in every single way.
  14. Heh cool, I started out on emagic logic on pc, that is it was my first real DAW experience, after rebirth and reason if my memory serves me correctly.
  15. Gonna add an example of how the phoscyon can sound in a goa context, as I'm doing a little pattern now on it for the AP Lead thread.
  16. The most important thing is to use windows xp or windows vista, since it adds some extra crisp lol
  17. I've corrected my above post somewhat, as I was a bit mistaken regarding the Supersaws, turns out the JP-8000 was released in 1996, I confused it's release date with the JP-8080 rack version which I had, which was released in 1998. And also in 1995 the first Nord Lead was released, which had unison and the possibility to stack parts. A feature I first though was introduced with the Nord Lead 2, but by looking at images of the front panel of the NL1, I'm now sure it also had unison. I would love to see some studio photos from the AP studio from that era, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had the Nord Lead1/Nord Rack 1 and the Roland JP-8000. And in 1997 the first Access Virus model was released, it didn't feature the now famous Hypersaw that the later TI models added, but I'm sure it must've sported a unison just like the Nord Lead for some fat supersaw like detuned leads. So since these type sounds which are rather specific for the virtual analog era of synthesizers was available in 1997, it opens up a lot of possibilities for what was used to make the leads on that album, and thus the options for recreating the AP leads. To the thread starter, do you have Sylenth1?
  18. The music production section would benefit from having some of the pinned threads removed, some are from 2005 and are hopelessly dated/irrelevant. Probably dead links galore. It would make that forum section feel more inviting and fresh, since the amount of pinned threads makes for some unnecessary scrolling while visiting that section.
  19. Compared to the original 303, I can also confirm that this is the closest you can get in software today (of the plugins I've tried so far). AudioRealism sounds OK, but not particularly faithful to the original. The Phoscyon has an extended feature set as well, which makes it way more versatile. It basically comes with some of those features previously found on the physical 303 mods. The onboard distortion is god-tier as well, replicates very well the sound of a TB-303 overgained via either a boss bx series mixer, boss pedal, or perhaps a mackie 8-bus desk.
  20. I think the key to getting close to their sounds is to limit yourself, so I would recommend using the same type of stacking/modulation options they had available at the time. Which means to analyze for example how a lead like this would be made on a Juno-106 or SH-101 with their rather limited options (by todays standards). I believe that the Roland MKS-80 Super Jupiter with its MKS-80 programmer, was an integral part of their sound as well. Which was a bit more advanced than the Juno 106/60 & SH-101. You are certainly on the right track with the PWM/LFO-modulation of the leads. That was a signature element of them for sure. For those crying type of leads, the portamento of said synthesizers played a crucial role as well. Try putting the portamento at around 13/14. Depending a bit on the scaling/range of the synthesizer you use, that might vary quite considerably, so listen until it sounds perfect. I know for a fact that Astral Projection used a specific phaser effect as well on their leads. Which you can hear clearly on the track "Feelings" from their Trust In Trance album. One thing I'm unsure of is if they used the "secret" unison mode and the rather noisy onboard chorus on the Juno-106 or if they opted for some external effect, like a chorus or multi-effect on the Eventide or Lexicon for example. https://www.synthtopia.com/content/2008/02/28/roland-juno-106-synth-unison-mode/
