  1. I also remember hearing from people who went to AP events around that time, either in Sweden or Denmark. About the added live drums. I also thought it sounded a bit experimental, and not really in line with the spacey electronic vibe. That’s the whole purpose for me with this style of Goa. The spacey otherwordly effect, created with synthetic sounds. So I would probably be totally taken out of the zone as well. But hey can’t blame them for experimenting atleast, they seem to have been pioneering/testing the field a bit. Prior to Infected Mushrooms full-on rockband approach some years later.

  2. Artifact303's debut album has been a long time nr. 1 in my list of all time goa albums. But this second one might take the spot now. Initially I wanted to compare both albums, but this has no use whatsoever. From The Stars is faster, more energetic, more aggressive, just more in-your-face. A different approach. All tracks have a pumping energy and a spiral/tunnel-like vibe that draws you into the music of each track. That's an effort only the best achieve. I simply love this album! Artifact303 remains the king. Hail to the king!

  3. well, it might have worked well for many but i found it very distracting as i was planning on dancing journeys into their originals, and each "unknown" added element such as the drums took me out of the zone each time best i remember it anyway. i dont recall a third person. the hallucinogen party must have been in that same timeframe. i have to be honest i dont remember if it was a pure hallucinogen event or if there were other acts playing aswell before simon. but orion rings a kinda strong bell, so its very likely it was the same event. that was one of the nights i was most "gone" so sadly i dont have the best recollection of the evening, but the simon set was incredible, his live versions are sooo good. three standouts that i do have some memory of is shamanix, loin sleeps tonight and gamma goblins. i think the venue was rathter small, and some sort of balkony that you could walk up to that had seats iirc? kinda werid and shady venue. haha, yeah, christiania after every visit to cph was a must and before too many times just walking distance from the ferries. (rip) on one of the visits to amager, the line was so long that by the time the show started the shrooms were already wearing off and standing in line isnt exactly top notch setting :p disclaimer: im not promoting drugs only recalling some memories. drugs do fuck u up.

  4. Yes indeed I agree, I also remember Born Into a New Life beeing kinda dark for the era, not particularly dark by todays standards. Still a very solid futuristic scifi vibe.

  5. Thank you, good job. For not be off topic my favorite 3 tracks from album: - Solar Warden - just killer morning sound - Unidentified - very strange alien track. It looks like classic modern goa but when i hear synths with deep attention it looks like very experimental sound imo. I very want test it on dancefloor. - Secret Space - i understand why some guys very like it and some dont like. Its just special cosmic style of goa (my favorite). All other tracks cool too, i think this music not classic goa in many moments, but level of Artifact303 skill very high and i enjoy all tracks. It was very interestring and long adventure work with this album. I hope we will continue work with Zsolt in future.

  6. i wish i had my flyer. i used to look at that thing like twice a week. not sure what happened to it. but no it did not specify live drums or live performance. edit: and the ticket (rip)

  7. Interesting! I always imagined it beeing a real drummer on stage with them. Only based on the very vague accounts, of what people told me. Who probably were clueless, as to what they actually experienced. But my guess would be that the flyers and event marketed it in such a way? I.E Astral Projection with Live Drums or something to that effect?

  8. its interesting you guys mention "live" drums as someone is actually playing a drumset or a drum machine. but i reeally cant place a third guy there at all, but ofc memory is very much falliable. either way it didnt sound like "live" drums per se, just like if it was one more layer in their projects - with extra percussion - on top of the others; not mixed in the same manner, and even ontop of the mastered tracks already. i wasnt technically savvy of music back then, but using what i know now, and applying to my memory. it sounded like they just hooked up a drum machine or something like that, and had pre-made patterns ready for every track. it did not look like it was "live" nor did it sound that way. maybe they got lazy for that one event at amager or i just mis-remember. anyway, its very interesting to read that they had a third guy there playing drums for some of their sets! even though i dont fully understand why even do that - it doesnt fit with their music (imo) their music is generally carefully engineered, and just putting a new layer ontop with drums whether live, or premade just made no sense to me personally. and another sad thing was that every "classic" track they played it was the "In the mix" versions of them. Although I love those versions too especially dancing galaxy and i think flying into a star - it was also a a bit disappointing not to hear the originals. ofc this is very much subjective, and only my opinion ofc. anyone else might have loved it! what would be even better is if they had specific live versions of their tracks just like Simon (or even Infected - and probably many more), but I suppose thats too much work for them they seem to not like much work otherwise their album would be ready already /end rant

  9. Do you have any Goa Trance mix sets you’ve made that you can recommend? I’m into both new and old Goa. Thanks! I’m curious since I remember that you released or hosted, some really nice stuff in the past on Ektoplazm.

  10. The Infected gig in Sweden was nice. It was the first time I saw a Psytrance act perform on a stage at what was an otherwise more pop/synth oriented festival and stage. The tracks they played ranged from Classical Mushroom and perhaps The Gathering album and all the albums afterwards up until then. Which were in my opinion atleast their peak work. Only thing I didn’t quite like, was that Skazi joined them briefly and played some electric guitar.

  11. Slinky Wizard 1997 Stockholm, Slide (Pete Martin) was on the lineup as well, but I have no recollection of the live-set of his. I'm sure it was stellar, it's just I'm not sure if we stayed throughout the duration of the event. Infected Mushroom at Arvika 2006 I think. Filteria 2007 or so, capital fellow! Had a nice chat regarding studio gear. +points for actually bringing a Korg MS-2000R which he tweaked live. Miranda in Sweden, year uncertain but around 2007/2008. Hallucinogen in Sweden 2014 dunno? I was amazed by the live versions of the classical repertoaire, and I'm surprised he never made a Live album containing these bangers. Pleiadians or Etnica in Stockholm I'm not sure under which moniker they performed. At a party around 2017 perhaps? The venue was a bit on the smaller side, so it wasn't optimal. And I hope to experience them in a festival-setting in the future on a bigger sound system. Still their tracks are always nice to hear. I've certainly seen more live but my memory is a bit blurry. These were after all some rather cloudy experiences. And I've attended a lot of parties where they played music from artists or Psytrance sub-genres which I'm not particularly invested in. And the stuff I do like, is rather rare in Sweden, even in the 90's it was more common to hear Techno than Goa Trance at the parties. And in the modern era, (Neo Goa Era) one might've needed to travel to Belgium or some other place where there has been a more active and focused scene with regards to Goa Trance. Maybe Israel as well, and the countries which host the big festivals with lot's of Goa Trance in later years. All things considered, I now realize I have barely heard any Neo Goa live besides Filteria. So I would really like to experience some more of that! On the wish-list: Dimension-5 Ra Astral Projection MFG UX Artha Artifact-303

  12. If you wanna discuss whatever topic we can do that in the OT section. Regarding this album I still haven’t got around listening to it yet. From the reactions so far it seems promising! There seem to be an interesting mix of flavours according to what I can gather from the impressions here so far. Morning stuff, cosmic stuff and more trancey/classic tunes as well?

  13. Cleaned up the trash. Sorry if anything meaningful went with it, but I didn't feel, that it would do the topic much good if I left it here... Thanks for pointing it out. This exactly cheers

  15. Would be interesting to know in what time frame the tracks on this album were made. If they are all newly made quite recently or from different years? Sometimes artists revisit older track ideas/tracks and rework them to their current standards etc. Just on a brief listening on bandcamp in the low preview quality there I can’t really comment yet on the finer aspects/details of the album. But I will when time is due. The first impression is that his last album had a clear Suntrip flair to it. I think variation is good, albums should always strive to tell something new/show a new angle or stylistic exploration. The album on Suntrip was killer though, so the bar is set quite high in space. Not easy competing with yourself I suppose. The last album was clearly very influenced by Pleiadians/Etnica and Filteria. And Mindsphere’s albums on Suntrip also had some of that alien DNA. Btw Speaking of Suntrip and the Pleiadic style often associated with the label, is there any new school Goa anyone could recommend which is more inspired by Dimension 5? I think Artifact303 could make some really cool cosmic tracks in that domain. I think Artifact303 had a lot to prove with his debut album, with the fierce competition provided by the other artists on the Suntrip label. And also of course by the classical albums in the Goa pantheon. Artifact303 made a big impact during the first Goa Trance revival in the 00’s. With a promising take on what the new Goa wave would encompass. Today the scene looks a bit different, there are many more artists exploring the style. There are youtube tutorials and overall the style is a bit more accessible for aspiring artists. So it was really amazing seeing/hearing what Artifact303 did back then. His new music needs to be contrasted not only to the old school goa, but also with the first neo goa wave and with the current Goa Trance scene. For a broader and more complex perspective. Giving us an ample opportunity to see in what direction this style is going in the future. This new Artifact303 album reminds me and puts GlobalSect on the Goa map for me. Since I’ve missed out/been absent from the Goa scene for many years, and not heard anything from GlobalSect until this release. So good work Russia! What are the other essential Goa releases from this label?

  16. I was expecting more Tecktonic or Goa tho? This was more on the Full-On side of things. Skipped through briefly and didn't hear any NHJO singing on top. I don't know, maybe he sold out? He used to be a puritan old school goa head. But perhaps with the stardom that followed with his collboration with Psy-Gangnam style, he abandonded the old trends? Such as the CD-format. The future is definitely mididisc DJ mixing. And some cassette tapes for that crisp entangled vintage feel. Atleast it seems he didn't play his own tracks? Still eagerly awaiting for his liveshow at Apsara, when/if the corona pandemic ever goes away. Some kiler goa christmas carols and psy dance x birthday songs for sure. However I can't rule out the Pavel conspiracy theory just yet. Because the face of the DJ is not clearly visible. If it's Pavel it's very convincing for sure. Imagine the effort in hiring all the people attending the club. That is an unprecedented attention to details.

  17. I think these type of promotions were always quite common, certainly on the isratrance forum. It's more noticeable now since this forum isn't as crowded as it once was. Thats also why for example NHJO might seem like a very active poster. When in fact he's been posting more or less the same amount and type of content since forever. It used to drown out more in the rest of the activity back when the forum was at its most active peak.

  18. Maybe, I wouldn't rule it out atleast. It's perhaps a door best kept closed.

  19. It's the same question I ask myself when I look in my mail spam folder. Are these viagra pills worth 30 bucks? I don't know, only way to know for sure is to take the plunge. Or if we used the ultimate guinea pig. Enter NHJO, if it would improve his sound, I bet it would improve anyones production. It would perhaps be like countering spam with spam, like adding a spammers email to a spam mailing list. Some deep meta type shit.

  23. I'm wondering if perhaps the psynews contest forum section which was active the last time 16 years ago or something, could be a thing again? To add some competitive edge to it . Kinda funny browsing through that forum, seeing artists who are now released on several labels, beeing very eager back then to get some recognition. If it could inspire some potential new hidden talent out there then why not?

  27. Would be kinda epic if everyone just add their stylistic touch to a track a Frankenstein's monster of psystyles. I can add some dark goa flavour. I like to make melodies.
