  2. One in a thousand? No! This new release is really really good Don't miss their first release, a pure dream,... goa labels must and should support each other more As the manager of Cronomi Rec. I think this digital release really deserves a serious mention! Check it @ Deities-and-demons-records

  4. This is the stuff right here. If you haven't heard it yet, well what are you waiting for? It will send cosmic shivers through your melting brain. Tune in, turn on your fluoro neuro SpongeBob synthesizzlers and re-adjust your brain-waves to the incoming stream of alien disco music. It's beyound comprehension how two Dimension 5 albums could be released in 2013, what are the odds for that to even happen? Well I don't know, let's just be thankful that they were, and appreciate that we now have a juggernaut trilogy that is the Goa Trance equivalent to The Lord of the Rings trilogy. And with that said, let's move on to the music that this rare event in space and time brought us. Synthonic Switch is epic, and a proof that those who claim that key-changes are a no no, are nothing but nay-sayers with no appreciation for emotional Goa and transdimensional alien traditions and culture. Another aspect of this album and D5's work in general that I really appreciate is their use of the good ole TB-303. This little silverbox has seldomly sounded as good as it did in the hands of D5. The signature styled D5 kick drums are here as well, as expected. They really honed their craft and created a very distinctive sound, where every layer and pattern has an unmistakenly unique Dimension 5 character. The sounds exhibit a glowing quality, as if charged to the brim with star radiation. And that might explain why one track even has the aptly chosen name "Alpha Particles". From the wikipedia page on star radiation: "The energy produced by stars, a product of nuclear fusion, radiates to space as both electromagnetic radiation and particle radiation. The particle radiation emitted by a star is manifested as the stellar wind, which streams from the outer layers as electrically charged protons and alpha and beta particles. Although almost massless, there also exists a steady stream of neutrinos emanating from the star's core." Caprica is another brilliantly shining Goa gem, which leaves light trails in the night sky as it catapults the listener further into the far reaches of space. It sounds like something that was dropped off in our galaxy by entities from a fifth dimension, waiting for another sentient organism to discover it. And thankfully the space division over at Suntrip Records HQ managed to retrieve the alienesque message and decipher the alien hieroglyphics, and somehow convert it to a frequency spectrum that is audible for us humans. They were of course aided by the Dimension 5 crew in this effort, as they posses the necessary experience in cosmic music translation.

  5. This is the type of album that takes you on some very enjoyable cosmic journeys through space and time. And I don't think there are too many of those. I love the type of flying sensation the D5-style manage to evoke in the mind of the listener. It's also the type of album which makes me wanna review music again! So I will try to review this and the other Dimension 5 albums released on Suntrip Records. They are nothing but stellar, or perhaps TransStellar. Moreover what's so phenomenal about the music of D5, is that it might be the closest thing to a trip that you can get, without actually taking a mind-altering substance. Besides perhaps the Hallucinogen - Twisted album, or the Black Mirror Bandersnatch episode. The album artwork by Farbo is nothing short of amazing either, and makes for a very compelling complete art direction, in tandem with the aural delight sculpted by Dimension 5. The artwork complements the music perfectly, and captures the enigmatic trippy aspects of the music here in a delightful way.

  6. Did it ... bought a Technics "HiFi system" with amp, tape deck, turntable and speakers. Speakers: SB-CS7 Amp: SU-X955 Turntable was SL-J110R ... but I'll put that one in storage, I have already a turntable there also is a receiver but I don't need it... Unfortunately it has no CD player - that hurts ... I hooked up my old DVD player and it's ok for now ... may still buy a CD player though. I checked on the web before the purchase and people (audiophiles) were saying it's not a "second coming" of a system, but it's proper and nice old stuff ... and when audio people say that, I knew it was a good decision. And in comparison to my former thing it's really great! I always thought "nah, don't need a new system, only will have problems with the neighbors" -- but a point that I was not thinking about is, how good it also sounds on low volume... Also the tape sound quality is really good ... unfortunately I have only 1 psy tape

  8. I'm enjoying this album. Victor Solsona has his own Goa style that could be described as deeper, slower, funky. This gives this album its own identity, something lacking today. He often goes deep and a little slower and less manic than some other contemporary Goa acts. He prefers bigger leads that are not too cluttered with layerism. This is a good thing in my book as it creates more space for the listener and dancer. On the down side, at times the sounds on this album are a bit cliched, and it sure likes its panned swooshes and ripping noises. Worth a listen I think. ~*~
