Hello people! I just released my first commercial soundbank (a psytrance soundbank for TAL Bassline 101). To celebrate both this and the 30th anniversary since the release of Hallucinogen's "Twisted", I created a free pack consisting of midi files for the whole album (along with a small soundbank for TAL Bassline 101 to get you started) - now yours to have fun with!

You can get it here: https://payhip.com/BandofBuggered
You can listen to audio demos on YT here: https://www.youtube.com/@BandofBuggered-q7p

Do check out my psytrance soundbank too if you want - I think it's pretty neat (if you like retro psy), if I may say so myself!

Cheers!

	Hello! I'm a (mostly) Nitzho producer! ^-^

I made some Nitzhonot that I consider good and probably even label-worthy (<s>well... if I'm being honest, a lot of (non-Nitzhogoa) Nitzho that ends up on labels sounds a bit amateurish, so I probably reached that level a while ago already lol</s>)

Now, having few to no contacts (I live in a place where basically all the psytranceheads focus on Hardcore / Hard Techno-style Psytrance), and prefering to talk to people irl rather than sending DMs to strangers and disturbing their peace of mind, I don't have anyone to ask these questions...

QUESTIONS (with green colour-coding for improved visibility and because I like green :Ꭰ):

	Question 1:

In the Psytrance (and especially Goa Trance / Nitzhonot) community, should I send my demos when the tracks are completed (except for the mastering), or is it acceptable to send track that are 95% completed (but that may be tweaked a tiny bit before the files are being sent for mastering)?

	Question 2:

I have potentionally label-worthy music in 5 styles. Should my debut EP preferably be in a style that fits what I plan to mostly produce in the future?

The 5 styles in which I have tracks that I'd consider to be probably label-worthy(You will probably notice an unsurprising pattern... :р):

 Darkpsy + oldschool Nitzhonot fusion

Uplifting (epic Greek Nitzhonot subgenre with brassy synths hehehe :Ꭰ)

Hard Techno / Hardcore + acid Nitzhogoa fusion (... but with enough eclectism in intensity that I probably can't make a coherent EP out of these tracks as of yet. Whoopsie! :р)

Nitzhogoa (but more Goa Trance-oriented, so hypnotic, a bit repetitive and not-so-anthemic)

Nitzhogoa (but high intensity with 155+ BPMs and crazy melodies! >:Ꭰ)

I'd love to release most of my (good enough) tracks in all of these styles eventually, but I mostly make (intense-style) Nitzhogoa (Or very shitty Uplifting. After all these shitty Uplifting tracks I made, I'm starting to believe that the reason most Uplifting is disappointing is due to the genre somehow making it difficult to reach its potential despite how simple it is to produce xD)

If I plan to stay a (high-intensity) Nitzhogoa artist, how much of a problem would it be to release an EP in one of the 3 other styles I mentioned?

Thanks in advance for your help! ^-^

Tyrian Tine is a FREE compact, yet potent Kontakt NKS instrument for generating unique, randomized bell and chime tones. Its asymmetric dual-layer engine pairs a wavetable oscillator - with purposeful instability, morphing, and controlled randomization - with a sample oscillator curated from bells, kalimbas, music boxes, and other metallic oddities. The result ranges from crystalline fantasy tintinnabulation to gritty, bronze-like strikes and haloed sci-fi swells.

Tyrian Tine lives where chapel glass meets starship hulls. Play a note and bells bloom like constellations; strikes flare, then drift into haloed swells that hang in the air like omens.

	Highlights

 73 presets

I just thought I'd share this with you. There's tons of tutorials, courses and other useful things out there, but rarely you come across something like this, which I percieve to have Universal Value for producers, fans and mere people who are interested alike.

Have you ever come across something like it?
The only thing I know that comes close is the "PLAYdifferently" by Richie Hawtin who did a performance and an explanation video for a mixer or something like that...

But is there more? A masterclass by a Psytrance Producer for example? Are there any?

I'd be curious to hear your feedback if you like it or not...

This sample & loop pack is suitable for any Psy style, be it Dark Forest Psy, Darkpsy, Psycore, Dark Progressive Psy or Twilight Psy and the like. 1,8 GB of nasty, beastly & monstrous samples & loops. It mainly consists of biting, beastly nasty leads, grazy liquid sequences and very complex pattern top loops, as well as a lot of dark, monstrous FX sounds and creepy pads. I added a special sinister bonus folder to the whole thing, with material that I initially only wanted to use for myself and decided to make it available to everyone.

These are ghost choir loops that are perfect for decorating and cutting together a very dark track.

I wish all of you who own this work of art lots of fun and creative inspiration for the success of your tracks and I hope that I can be of great help to you in creating your masterpieces.

The Samples & Loops Pack consists mainly of beastly cyber leads, complex patterns and many dark FX sounds, also ambiences and drum loops/shots. However, it is suitable for any dark psy style. Most of the loops have 130 Bpm, as I find this speed very excellent for a Zenonesque. I mainly work with Serum and the Avenger 2 in FL Studio 21.

There are Youtube tutorials, 130+ pages Isratrance thread etc, but most of the advices and tutorials usually boil down to “I use these settings and it works for me”. If it works for someone else, it doesn’t automatically mean it will work for me since the tracks’ key, the bass pattern, the kick are just as important as the bass synth settings (huge thanks to Imba for sharing his bass patch, but I still haven’t even tried it cause I don’t expect it to change my world). So this thread should be more about the basic concepts rather than sharing settings and Youtube (which is also welcome though).

So well, what may be important from my experience.

- The synth choice. Some people say that every synth is fine as long as it has a saw oscillator and a 4 pole LP filter. This is not my experience, I think some synths do it much better than the others. Sylenth seems to be popular for a reason and I’ m getting the best results with it so far.

- The key of the track. I’m writing most tracks in E minor because it’s easier for me to write the melodies in this key, but I guess it may be not the best key for the bass. What keys are commonly used?

- The amount of oscillators or waves within one oscillator. Sometimes stacking several saws in one oscillator with locked phase and zero stereo spread sounds better than one saw, sometimes it doesn’t. Seems to work better for one note patterns like in progressive than for jumping full-on bass.

- The starting phase of the oscillator – may make drastic change depending on the note length.

- The suboscillator. I commonly use sine wave admixed to the saw one octave lower. The relative volume may depend on the key and the bass pattern, I think one note proggy patterns will sound fine with much louder sub than full-on basses jumping over one of two octaves, these usually require way less sub if any.

- The filter and amp envelopes. This goes without saying that they are very important but I think they may be mostly set by ear. Highly depends on the bass pattern.

- The external processing. All the tracks on my soundcloud have the bass decorated with various plugins like New Year’s tree, but I think none of these basses are especially good. Now I’m gravitating towards minimal processing, basically only an equalizer and a monoizer, al least it is easier to control. As for the eq settings, it was independently confirmed by two guys with very good ears that the harmonic frequencies can mask the fundamental bass tone making the bass muddy (e.g. if the bass is in E, 165 HZ may be a problematic area, where a wide cut may improve the clarity of the bass).

What else may be important?

Just discovered on synth in Logic Pro much more suitable for oldschool psytrance then Retro Synth, the ES2, it sounds with a bit of dirt but I think it's fault of the reverb and delay quality and it sounds a bit repetitive and loopy I still have to work on that tell me what you guys think? And the drums were made with drum synth that some people say it's not very good, maybe I will replace it with samples later.

I think this is a topic many of us want, to see classic Alpha Juno and Juno-106 patches (AP - Dancing Galaxy) aswell as classic SH-101 patches (Simon, X-Dream +gazillion) or the famous JD-800 patches by Etnica/Pleiadians (Hmm Roland = Goa?) - recreated fully including sound signature and fx - inside your daw..

while id concede its impossible to 100% nail it, id accept anywhere from 51-90% for the thread! most of us arent pro and that would be very acceptable and fun to chat about even if we cant nail it.. Just emulating the output stage of any of those synths for example should be a chore since youd really have to have one in order to re-create just the right filtering+noise+eq+compression+samplerate+phase etc etc....that the unit already has once you hear it... let alone the actual sound synthesis itself....

What would be interesting in this topic is to see patches including fx-chains that comes very close to a certain sound or a certain melody or a bass patch or whatever - made inside modern DAWs; based on whichever song/sound you want.. Im currently trying to emulate the dancing galaxy lead so that lead me to the thread...

So the PWM + LFO modulated Astral sounds of the Juno-106 or Alpha - for example, id love to see recreated in say Diva or any wavetable synth.. Aswell as the mixing to get it close to that dirty 90s sound..... Well okay thats the sound Im working on so not that one, but as an example.

Get that old track you love, load up any daw and try to get close and post here.

I've been learning to use my DAW.

Here's my very incomplete early attempt at a Goa Trance track, aiming for a slightly tribal feel and lowish tempo (143 bpm at the moment).

I'd love any comments and suggestions, even to tell me it's dreadful.

The drums need some work I think. The ones at the start are supposed to be 808 style tom toms, but I think the kick maybe interferes with them a bit and they get sort of clicky so I may change them. I like my melody but I'm not totally sure if it matches up that well with the percussion and bass in terms of the timing.

If I don't end up abandoning the whole thing I'll probably make some acid lines next and maybe another layer or two, pads and other samples.
