Review:
Hey, what do you know, new compilation on Atomic!
Sweet.. Track 1. MOS is one of my favourite producers,
their last album was REALLY good.. This song remids me
of the style they kept in their previous album, Meter,
more than their recent stuff. Dark, driving, loads of
triplets, very forceful. NICE. Track 2. Slow, crisp
kick, progressive feel, nice and chilled. Track 3.
Breakbeaty start, housey feel but at the same time
quite fast with nice work on the hihats and some
rather dark layer kicking in halfway. Track 4.
Awesome! Summery playful tune with the harsh atomic
technoid approach throughout. The percussion is just
beautiful and that break halfway really did it for me.
Track 5. I heard Dino Psaras play this tune a while
ago and I just could not figure out what the hell this
could be. Brilliant. Fast, agressive without being
either really hard or heavy. That melody is really
haunting and the way the song builds up will get you
on your feet.. Track 6. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww......
Fucking hell!! Rude tune with Wizzy Noise like
percussion. Hard, aggressive, downright dirty! This
baby is made for the dancefloor. Track 7. Slow,
rolling tune, this is Aphid Moon under a different
name.. Spot the relation? Zaphod Betelgeuse from
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.. Nice, I prefer the
Aphid Moon song though. Track 8. Ok, ANOTHER remix of
creeper. This is well housey.. I prefer the original,
this doesn't do the trick for me. Track 9. Nice and
fluffy, as expected from mr. Gus Till. Nothing
incredible but a nice closure to this compilation. Can
anyone remind me where this is from? I've definitely
heard this quite a few times before.. Overall a very
good compilation, although I've got to warn you: Most
of the songs on this are very serious crossovers.
You've got to remember that more than anything this is
an Atomic release with the cold, funky, technoid feel
behind even the fluffiest of the songs. As expected
the production is superb and with the exception of
that Updata remix, all the songs are good, each in
their own different ways. Favourites: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6.
Overall a good 8.5/10.
