Review:

What a shocker of a day I have had, gor caught running a red light $200,

locked my keys in the car in a 1 hout park bay and got a $50 fine. Thenn I

go to Sanity Music and found this for $18 Aussie!!

Well, this track has some songs already released by I have never heard

anything much from Elysium, and this is a wicked addition to my old school

section. I am going to go through it track by track so if you already own

some songs, then skip to ones you don't have hehe.

The first track opens with very psychadelic and airy sounds. A nice melody

flows with some nice tribal type drums. Acidic effect bounce around. It

really does sound like an alien world. Then a more full on melody kicks in,

along with a nice beat and some funky cymbals. There is also a nice ethnic

type voice. I could imagine this being form some strange alien world, like

some of the Star Wars planets.

The next song again start with strange ambient sounds, then in comes the

congo drums, a wicked beat and funky elector melodies, and again the aliens

fly in and out, with their wierd effectsa nad languages. Elysiusm seems to

have an a mazing knack for wicke meldoies.

Track three, starts of with a liquidy acid effect, and then a a nice calm

beat, with chilled out melodies. This is a nice song to relax to, or dance

slowly in the darkness of a strange alien forest.

The fourth track starts with a funky little ethinig type melody, and again

the acid like effect sneak in from behind, with a groovy bass line. The

beginning mel,ody stays the whole way through, with other effects coming in.

The fifht track is a dancefloor stormer, fast beats, vey much bassed aeround

the acid sounds, it brings memories of Doof - Let's Turn On and others from

that era.

The next track is a lot slower, a lot more ambient in a way, kinda like

Astral Projection - Ambience. It has some ehtnic voices and drums. Very

bouncy and happy.

The last track is another slow, but very uplifitng and happy tack. NOT

CHEEZEY at all, just very aliens sounding.

I love this cd, I can see it being a favourtie of mine over time. I guess

most people have thes track son his other albums, but for thos who don't,

this seems to have a lot of his classics, and some others not on his albums.

Very fun, very old school alien sounds, and it has made my year I think, a

great find for a great price. Thankyou for this Elysium, and I look forward

to your next release, though I already have a copy of the demo, I for sure

will be buying a copy of the official release. Hopefully I'll be able to

scan and send a copy of the cover in.

10/10 for a wicked album from the good old days, when I was 16 going wild

and having a great life!

Definitely a great album from the past that still sounds as exciting as the day

it was released.

Those were the days, these were the sounds. Listening to this is like going

through old photos for me. Was I really that young? A lot of miles since

then ... I wouldn't buy it now, but I'd listen to a friend's copy over Sunday

morning.

Beautiful ethnic ambient CD from one of the early masters. An absolute must for

a heavy night after a party or ethnic chilling accompaniment out in the

nature. I love it.

Well of course anything that may damage Simon P is an issue for you hey? And can you remove it now? Some people have dial up still and such a big image means they'll avoid this review... after this section is about the music not about the cover.

me thinks the cover is a cheap rip off :P

the music however isn't a rip off.. :P

Well in that case, almost all of the albums back then are a cheap rip off of eachother.

And well said "The Journey Man" Very nice album indeed, one that doesnt sound like no other.

Cheers!

This is a good album! Distinctive sound, although rougher than i expected and less dreamy. However, nice soundscapes and the last track "Aliens" is an absolute climax, a truly original and very good track.

"It's human nature to fear...the unusual."

Elysium is Dane Kristian Thinning and he is the go to guy for tribal goa trance. Dance for the Celestial Beings was his debut and one of the classic albums that should be owned. His second was a mini album entitled Master of the Rainforest which included the monster track of the same name. This was released the next year and took tracks from both and made it into a compilation. Good to have if you weren't fortunate to get a hold of the first two (like me).

Then in 2005 Avatar Records gave it the re-release treatment with a special 2nd disc of unreleased tracks. If that wasn't enough, a few years ago he gave away a lot of his old tunes on Ektoplazm under the album title Works. Did I mention he also gave away wav remasters of the biggest tracks from one of his other projects Sheyba?

Dude is a giver.

This tribal goa trance is delicious. I don't know if he'll see any of the cash from it, but I'm buying the Avatar reissue. Least I can do.

Brilliant album. Interpretation of Dreams and Aliens are the perfect mix of goa and downtempo.

Elysium's goa was like the last track on a lot of goa albums, a full album of what I always liked best was such a treat.
